HTC started taking pre-orders started in March 2016. The box contains the headset, two wireless controllers, the link box, two base stations, earbuds and a manual.

HTC Vive Pre review
Before trying out the HTC Vive at GDC 2016, I signed an agreement that said I couldn't give you a full review of the system. I was told to avoid using strong language and to keep in mind that the demos I saw weren't the final versions.
love this thing use it all the time.
it's a wonderful bit of kit and while not perfect still blows anything else vr out of the water. feels surreal to use you have to try it to understand.
Amazing product for the first generation.
Please note that I am giving my review as a first generation product. It has its pros and cons. Initially when I traded in my entire game and console collection to get this, I thought I had made a mistake. However after using it for three days this this is really great.

Amazing hardware.
HTC Vive is an amazing bit of kit that brings brilliant immersion. Not only is it for gamers as it can be used for creative purposes or simply watching a movie in your own personal cinema.

In the end I did not use the stands but will keep them should i change rooms, The steam set up tutorial was easy to follow. I have played elite dangerous on a monitor but in VR it is breathtaking the three D effect makes it seem real you can walk about your ship and look out of the windows at...

Yeah, comes with 2 square things that need to be 2 meters up, it's not just a headset you can put on and install. Tons o' wires requiring at least 3 wall plugs and then it remains on while the computer is on, there is no off switch so you have to unplug the headset to shut it down.
