How do you even begin to encapsulate the polarity of feelings the HTC Vive can inspire in an overall verdict? The HTC Vive is the bastion of high-end virtual reality in 2016, but its cost of entry isn't just a monetary value (despite that being the largest factor).
- Truly stepping into VR for the first time
- Intuitive motion controllers
- Simplicity of Chaperone system
- Very expensive for general consumer
- Base Station fitting is a nightmare
- Mediocre library at launch
Review: the HTC Vive is incomparable
Undoubtedly the best VR headset you can currently buy, but know its limits before you rush in
HTC Vive Virtual Reality Headset Review
We'll start with the good, and when it's working, it's an excellent and immersive experience. The headset is not heavy, the cables do not really get in your way and once the tracking units are set up, you can forget about them.
Audioshield HTC Vive review – fighting?music
Later revisions may improve the bugs and lack of variety, but for now this is just another VR tech demo that's all promise and too little polish.- A fun reinterpretation of classic rhythm action games
- that looks great and has a potentially infinite music library
- The gameplay gets repetitive very quickly, no matter how different the music is you use
- Very buggy, particularly the menu interface
HTC Vive review: is this brilliant but flawed and demanding product the Betamax of first-gen VR?
It goes without saying that, at $799 (plus another $1,000 or so for a suitable PC if you don't have one already), Vive is not going to be for everyone. It makes Oculus Rift seem positively affordable, in fact , and PlayStation VR will be far cheaper, especially if you already have a PS4.- Brilliantly immersive
- Can be worn at length
- Plenty of good games
- Neither cheap nor simple
- Inevitably bulky & cumbersome
- Very few great games
HTC VIVE Deluxe Audio Strap, makes your virtual reality experience even better with integrated audio, comfort padding and an easy-to-use size adjustment dial
Easy to install and is very comfortable. I am usually very picky about sound quality and these sound great for what they are. They actually sound better than the headphones on the HTC Vive Pro I tried at a friend's.

YOU WILL NOT GET FALLOUT 4 VR WITH THIS PURCHASE. I bought this bundle on March 25, it arrived at my post office and was ready for pickup April 2. The HTC code for Fallout 4 VR is a PROMOTIONAL CODE that ENDED on March 31--two days before my "bundle" arrived in the mail, and because the code is...
Decent product but HTC will not sell replacement parts so the unit is worthless if anything breaks
If your life is perfect and nothing every gets lost of breaks, this may be a good gaming product.- DIdn't get to use it long enough to find them
- We lost a part
- HTC would not sell us a replacement
- They said to buy a new unit
"Holy moly, I'm in Portal!" – hands on with the HTC Vive virtual reality headset #MWC15
HTC's announcement of a virtual reality headset, created in partnership with world-leading games company Valve (Half Life, Portal, Steam…), took Mobile World Congress entirely by surprise on Sunday.
HTC and Valve have hit a high note with the Vive Pre. It's a country mile ahead of the Oculus Rift in terms of interactivity and immersion and is simply stunning. We challenge anyone to try the Vive and not be impressed.
