HTC started taking pre-orders started in March 2016. The box contains the headset, two wireless controllers, the link box, two base stations, earbuds and a manual.

Breaks.
It is a wonderful technlogy that will break for no reason after a few months of use. One of my sensor broke. It's usual for that brand I saw on the net... very disappointed.

HTC Vive Wireless Adapter Review – Free Your HMD
HTC launched the Vive as the only VR HMD with roomscale support and proper motion controllers over two years ago, and while their competitors have caught up over that time, they've introduced a killer accessory that once again puts them ahead in the realm of movement.
Pros:
- True wireless freedom
- Works with either Vive HMD
- Easy setup
- No image quality reduction versus being wired
- No noticeable added input latency
- Battery pack design makes for an easy swap-out
- Headset doesn't feel any heavier
Cons:
- More expensive for Vive Pro owners
- Battery is not hot-swappable
- Image quality could be affected by slower CPUs

Yeah, comes with 2 square things that need to be 2 meters up, it's not just a headset you can put on and install. Tons o' wires requiring at least 3 wall plugs and then it remains on while the computer is on, there is no off switch so you have to unplug the headset to shut it down.

Pros:
- Amazing tracking for the headset and controllers
- Well placed buttons on the controllers blend well into the games
Cons:
- The headset does not have built in earphones instead a short pair are provided to plug in
