HTC U11+ review
The U11+ will be too big and heavy for some but it's a decent effort from HTC. It's cheaper than rivals and has some top-notch specs including 128GB storage as standard. It also has decent cameras, IP68 waterproofing and an 18:9 screen. It's just a shame there's no headphone jack, Edge Sense remains something of a gimmick, and we don't get the alluring translucent model in the UK. It's a worthy upgrade to the U11, however there are some cracking phones to choose from at lower price points including the OnePlus 5T and Google Pixel 2, which has a feature similar to Edge Sense.

HTC U11+ : the grab-able glass phone gets a 2018 overhaul review
The U11 was a phone that went out on a limb, doing its own Liquid Glass thing while most other manufacturers chased the dream of an edge-to-edge display. The U11+ is a fantastic upgrade, bringing that formula up to date with an 18:9 screen, while keeping the same lightning-fast performance and superb superb camera that only narrowly falls short of Google’s algorithmic Pixel 2. The problem is timing. We’re only a few weeks away from 2018’s first crop of new flagships, so asking £699 for a slightly tweaked version of last year’s model is a monumental ask. And with no networks selling it here in the UK, you’ll have to pick it up SIM-free directly from HTC. We’re betting most of you would rather wait and see what’s around the corner - making the U11+ just a little too late to the party.
Pros:
- Excellent camera
- Already gorgeous design updated with 18:9 screen
- Great performance & battery life
Cons:
- Screen could be brighter
- No headphone port
- Not sold through UK networks, high SIM-free price
