HTC has been a bit of a fan favourite with both Australian carriers and the buying public. Their phones have consistently been available through mainstream channels for a long time, and for the most part have sold relatively well.
Pros:
  • Beautiful Design
  • Fantastic Sound
  • SD Card expansion
  • OS is buttery smooth
  • It's GORGEOUS – I mean look at it
Cons:
  • Camera could be better
  • Weird occasional lockups
  • Still a little slippery to hold

HTC One M9

Expectation. It is a word that underpins any flagship smartphone release, and when HTC informed the world that it would be unveiling its follow up to the immensely impressive One (M8) (review) at MWC 2015 in March, expectations were naturally high.
Pros:
  • Well constructed with beautiful design
  • Powerful processing and multitasking
Cons:
  • Heats up under heavy use
  • Doesn't feel like enough of a step forward

It's clear that the HTC One M9 is an outstanding smartphone. As the first major release of 2015, HTC has a natural advantage in getting its product onto the market unchallenged. Right now, the phone is unassailable.
Pros:
  • Still the most beautiful phone in town
  • All-powerful for apps and games
  • One of the best selfie cams around
Cons:
  • Little reason to upgrade if you have M8
  • No truly unique selling point
  • 1080p display might soon be bettered

The HTC One M9 has now landed, making it the latest flagship phone from the Taiwanese manufacturer. While it doesn't look too different from its predecessors , it's still a sleek and stylish phone that can go toe-to-toe with the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 in the looks department.
Pros:
  • The One M9 marks HTC's 2015's flagship phone, and like the M8 before it, things haven't changed too much - the new One looks a bit like the old One
  • But that's no bad thing, as the One M8 (and the M7 before it) had a slick aluminium design, and it's been tweaked and refined to house even faster...
Cons:
  • The One M9 doesn't feel like a brand spanking new phone - just like last year's M8, it feels more like a refined and slightly retooled version, which may feel underwhelming for some
  • It's a solid handset, but if you're after something completely different from HTC, you might be waiting for a while.

HTC One M9 Review

I missed Mobile World Congress this year so this was the first time I got hands on the M9. Overall I was impressed but wasn't quite blown away for what is a flagship phone. It is hard to improve on the already great hardware HTC had on the M7 and M8, but to me it felt like something was lacking...

Build Quality The HTC One M9 is a handsome smartphone. Ergonomic and light in hand. Its body is elegant and solid -- I wouldn't call it rugged per se, but it easily survived a few drops without a dent, ding or scratch.
Pros:
  • Terrific Dual Camera User Interface
  • Manual mode
  • image capture
  • Video shooting easy to engage
  • Outstanding editing suite
  • Full 1080p 5.0 Touchscreen is bright and clear
  • 4K and 1080p HD video options
  • Best external smartphone speakers available now
  • Terrific call quality
  • Good to Excellent Battery...
Cons:
  • Auto Focus not always accurate
  • Auto Exposure less accurate in high contrast shooting conditions
  • Noisy Images in all but bright lighting
  • Digital Zoom noise
  • tends to overexpose
  • No optical IS
  • No optical zoom
  • Continuous AF in video capture slow and distracting

HTC One M9 Smartphone Review

The HTC One M9, unfortunately, lacks any real innovations, but the Taiwanese manufacturer can improve some aspects, so the M9 is a very good smartphone. The high-resolution SLCD3 panel can convince with the high luminance and the good contrast ratio.
Pros:
  • Great design and build quality
  • Great speakers
  • IPX3
  • Expandable storage
  • Good connectivity
  • High range of the Bluetooth connection
  • Good GPS
  • Fast storage
  • Bright and high-contrast display
  • Fast SoC ..
Cons:
  • ..
  • but the GPU loses performance under load, Comparatively bad camera, Meager battery runtimes, No quick-charge or wireless charging, QWERTY keyboard even in the German layout, Pricing

HTC One M9 review: A gorgeous Android phone with a touch of déjà vu

The updated HTC One M9 packs speed and software improvements into a handset that remains lustworthy in middle age, but it doesn't exceed the competition where it counts. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Such seems to be the guiding philosophy behind the HTC One M9, and for the most part, the approach works. The One M9 is a beautiful Android phone worthy of your consideration, unless you already own last year's HTC One M8 (they could well be confused for the same phone). The Samsung Galaxy S6 beats it on most key features you'd care about however, including battery life and camera quality.
Pros:
  • The HTC One M9 inherits its predecessor's stunning metal design and strong speakers, and has a bright, sharp display
  • It runs the latest version of Android, and the new Sense 7 software is simple, responsive and highly customisable
  • It's one of the few flagship phones to still feature expandable storage, and it offers a unique one-year replacement program in the US.
Cons:
  • The M9's camera quality and battery life don't measure up to its competitors
  • For better or worse, the phone feels like a rerun of last year's HTC One.
