Review: HTC One M9

HTC built a big lead in design chops a couple of years ago, but the rest of the market has caught up fast: Samsung, Motorola, and Apple all make beautiful, big, high-resolution phones now. Honestly, so do lower-end brands like Alcatel, Blu, and OnePlus. Lovely hardware design isn't novel anymore.
Pros:
  • As beautiful as the Ones before
  • Great screen, great battery life
  • HTC's onto something, letting you customize your phone so much
  • Uh Oh Protection will replace your phone, no questions asked
Cons:
  • The camera just still can't keep up
  • The One wants to be responsive and aware, but it's just not smart enough to be really useful yet

HTC One M9 (T-Mobile)

Smartphone upgrades are typically biennial events, their significance only enhanced by how personal and essential the devices have become. When upgrading, it's not unreasonable to expect something that's better in ways that go beyond just specs.
Pros:
  • Fantastic design and build quality
  • Fast performance
  • Seamless software customization options
  • MicroSD card slot
Cons:
  • So-so battery life
  • Competitive, but still-disappointing camera

With its improved processor and cameras, beefed up battery and the ability to add more memory, the HTC One M9 is a worthy successor to the M8, correcting most of that phone's main faults and while retaining all its virtues.

  • fine HD screen
  • powerful processor
  • decent camera
  • expandable memory
  • good battery life
Cons:
  • Not waterproof
  • not cheap

  • Display has excellent bright light legibility
  • Premium build and design
Cons:

HTC One M9 deep-dive review: Third time's (almost) the charm

With years of refinement, HTC has managed to create one of the world's most beautifully designed and well-built smartphones. The One M9 is truly a luxurious object, and its exceptional form alone is enough to make it worth considering.
Pros:
  • Outstanding build quality and hardware design
  • excellent display
  • best-in-class front-facing stereo speakers
  • solid performance
  • useful software features like Easy Mode and native theming
  • supports Quick Charge for accelerated charging
  • SD card slot
  • two years of upgraded Google Drive storage
  • free...
Cons:
  • Mediocre camera quality
  • unexceptional battery life
  • awkward power and volume button placement
  • user interface a bit stale compared to Google's base Android Lollipop OS
  • no wireless charging
  • Quick Charge adapter not included with phone

HTC One M9 Review: Luxury + Evolution Packed Into One Very Smart Device

Now with the new HTC One M9 he is saying that the Taiwanese phone maker is playing it "Dangerously safe" with their new model smartphone because it has similarities to the M8. I disagree absolutely with Davidson's thinking that smartphones have to significantly differ from one model to the next.
Cons:
  • Heat is a minor problem
  • I would also like to see an option feature to fractionally enlarge icons
