Google Chromecast with Google TV review: Welcome to the party, Google
It was previously hard to recommend getting a Chromecast for TV, but this product - thanks to its remote control and user interface - is a much more complete offering. There are some absences to services - Apple TV+ an obvious one - but the platform feels strong already and like it will develop into something rock solid. Google might be late to the party, but it has finally arrived - and in style.
Pros:
- Great remote
- Google Assistant integration for great search
- 4K HDR support
- Dolby Atmos
- Great performance
- New UI makes life easier
- TV/Sound system control
Cons:
- Some services missing - no Apple TV+ or All 4
- Recommendations need development
- Only supports one top level user account
- No Stadia support

Great but not perfect
I love the new interface the Google TV introduces. This is a simple easy to use device that is a huge step up from the last generation. I have given it 4 stars because of the issues streaming 4k content despite having high speed internet connection and Google wifi. Pros: - Clean easy to use interface - Can connect to most streaming services - Comes with remote that can take the place of TV and soundbar remotes - Streamline all your services to one place - Makes any TV with HDMI smart - Appropriate for people who aren't tech savy Cons: - Has trouble keeping a strong connection to google wifi less than a meter away - Can not stream 4k despite home having 100mbps internet connection - Pushes own paid streaming service

Google Chromecast Review
The new Google Chromecast doesn't make any big changes from the original media streamer, but it's a bit quicker and every bit as handy, for the same very reasonable $35. Google wowed us with the Chromecast when it launched two years ago. At the time, the idea of a $35 device you could plug into your HDTV to watch streaming media was remarkable. It no longer seems as novel, with other inexpensive solutions on the market, even still the Chromecast remains a top-notch media streamer. And now it gets a refresh. The newly released Chromecast is slightly different in design, and a bit faster in operation, but it keeps the same $35 price tag and mobile device control scheme that made the original so popular. Don't rush out to buy one if you already own the original Chromecast, but as a new iteration it's every bit as strong an option, and earns our Editors' Choice for media streamers. New DesignA small plastic puck with a glossy, colorful front side (it's available in black, pink, or yellow versions), the new Chomecast has a matte gray bottom side. A short, flat cable comes out of one end and terminates in an HDMI connector. A micro USB port sits oppos...
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Easy to set up
- Compatible with many apps and services
- Responsive
Cons:
- No major new features over the original Chromecast
- Requires a smartphone, tablet, or PC to control

Chromecast With Google TV Review
The Chromecast With Google TV finally adds a remote and on-screen interface with a new and simple menu system to the popular media streamer. Google's Chromecast lineup was getting a bit long in the tooth. The regular Chromecast could only stream 1080p content, while the Chromecast Ultra added 4K but more than doubled the price, and neither came with a remote or had an on-screen menu system. The new Chromecast With Google TV replaces both of these dated media streamers, offering an excellent 4K experience with a remote, an easy-to-use menu system, and all of the benefits of Google TV in a tiny, $49.99 package. It easily rivals the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, with a sleek interface and loads of functionality, earning our Editors’ Choice for affordable media streamers.Design and Remote The new Chromecast is built similarly to the previous models, with a slim, puck-like body on a short cable that ends in an HDMI plug. This version is a bit more oblong than the circular Chromecast, and its smooth matte finish makes it reminiscent of a bar of soap. It's available in blue, pink, or white, though it doesn't really matter which co...

Chromecast with Google TV Review
The Chromecast with Google TV is an excellent, feature packed streaming stick that matches, if not beats its Fire and Roku competition, but there are a few odd omissions.

- HDR / Dolby Vision support
- Useful physical remote Google Assistant / smart home support
Cons:
- Lacks some key apps, especially outside the US

Chromecast With Google TV (HD) Review
The Chromecast With Google TV (HD) brings a wealth of streaming services and Google Assistant voice control to 1080p TVs for just $30. The Chromecast With Google TV ($49.99) is one of our favorite media streamers, offering 4K HDR streaming and plenty of powerful features for less than $50. You don’t need a 4K media hub if your TV isn’t 4K, though, which is why Google also offers the Chromecast With Google TV (HD). The HD version costs just $29.99 and offers all the same functionality as the 4K model, including HDR10 support, Google Assistant, Google Cast, and a remote that can control your TV. In fact, the only differences between the two are a 1080p resolution and the lack of Dolby Vision—both of which are no loss if used with older TVs. The Chromecast With Google TV (4K) is still a top pick for your 4K TV, but the HD version is an ideal way to keep olders TVs connected, making it our Editors’ Choice winner for HD media streamers.Identical Twins Only available in white, the Chromecast HD is identical to the Chromecast 4K model. It’s a flat, rounded puck about the size and shape of a worn bar of soap, measuring 1...
