God of War is the best game of this generation without a doubt. It takes a big risk and mixes up its past formula for something fresh that works and makes me wish the previous games played like this, it also has the best story and cinematic experience I’ve seen in a game.

God of War is the perfect trifecta of innovative gameplay, gorgeous visuals and engrossing narrative. It’s a game that grabbed me from its opening moments and had me holding my breath for almost 30 hours.

For a time, God of War was arguably Sony’s strongest intellectual property. With each of three main games, Sony Santa Monica was able to up the ante and wow us with the ever-increasing scale.

It isn't perfect, since nothing is, but came as close as you could get in a given genre. The new leader to beat.

I found myself thrown when I started playing God of War , the rebirth of Sony Santa Monica’s Greek God game…where did I recognise the voice was that coming from Kratos’ mouth? It was Teal’c from Stargate SG-1!

It’s hard to imagine a God of War fan not enjoying this, for all the reasons that we DID mention and some that we’re holding back for the sake of spoilers. Eventhough it has seen considerable changes from previous games in the series, they almost all feel like they were for the better.

If you’re looking for a cool new game on your PS4, then there’s not much to dislike about God of War 4, in fact not only do we love it, the game has received some of the highest rated reviews for action-adventure games in 2018 so far!

The only critique I have for the game is enemy variety. It could use more enemies of varying types. This is a nitpick, and won’t really affect the final score because the game already surpassed my expectations. –Benjamin Woodham
