GoPro Hero 8 Black
There's more to like about the GoPro Hero 8 Black because there appears to be less of it!
A GoPro that got in shape
The streamlined design and reimagined shape makes the GoPro Hero 8 Black's more pocketable, and therefore more portable. Meanwhile, folding fingers at the base let you swap mounts quickly, a new side door speeds up the battery changing process, and the lens is two times more impact resistant.
One smooth unit
Hero 8 Black is the smoothest GoPro yet with three levels of stabilization to suit your requirements. Couple that with the widest views possible and your footage reaches dramatic new heights. As a big plus, HyperSmooth works with all resolutions and frame rates, and features in-app horizon levelling.
Let's do the time warp again
TimeWarp 2.0 captures super stabilized time lapse videos and can automatically adjust the speed based on motion, scene detection and lighting. Another neat trick you can play is to slow down the effect to real time and then tap to speed it back up when you're ready.
You'll love LiveBurst
This cool mode captures 1.5 seconds before and after you hit the shutter, allowing you to pick your preferred shot from 90 still images. Or, you can choose to share a 3-second 4K video clip.
Night Lapse Video
This feature makes it possible to shoot amazing time lapse videos at night in 4K, 2.7K 4:3, 1440p or 1080p.
Get the best view every time
It's easier than ever to get the best view regardless of what you're doing. Simply tap through these four lenses: Narrow, distortion-free Linear, Wide and SuperView.

GoPro Hero8 Black review
At £379, the GoPro Hero8 Black is anything but cheap, but the experience it delivers isn’t cheap either. There are a couple of things we would have liked to have seen - a bigger screen and better low light video capture. In addition, getting footage on and off the app was a bit fiddly when using an Android 10 phone. That said, the nuts and bolts of using the Hero8 as an action camera are exactly where they need to be. The promise of the upcoming mods which look set to add improved sound recording and a vlogging display to the mix are whetting our appetites nicely too. In turn, GoPro’s Hero-line is very much still the action cam to beat, and we can’t wait to see what’s on the HyperSmooth horizon from the OG of action cams as we hurtle into 2020.- Convenient mounting
- Incredibly stable footage
- Timelapse videos look fantastic
- Very good, not fantastic photos
- Still poor lowlight performance
- Small display

GoPro HERO8 Black CHDHX-801-RW review
Again GoPro has managed to produce a camera with almost exactly the same specifications as the last one, and again they’ve made me want to buy it. Actually, the hardware change is big once you get the camera out in the field, not having the cage in any way shape or form is a great advancement.
GoPro Hero 8 Black review: smooth operator
It's that time of the year again. Fall brings us, along with decorative gourds, new GoPros. Other brands such as DJI have been threatening to eat GoPro's lunch, recently, while the past couple of revisions of GoPro's signature camera have largely been iterative.- New design doesn't require special housing for mounts
- Image stabilization is even better than before
- New Mods attachments provide more versatility
- Camera gets very hot while recording
- New fixed lens isn't as easy to repair as prior models
- May not be as rugged as earlier GoPro cameras
GoPro Hero 8 Black review: Steady as she goes
The GoPro Hero 8 Black doesn't represent a massive jump forward in image quality over the Hero 7 Black, then, but GoPro hasn't rested on its laurels. The new built-in mounting prongs are a big improvement over the clunky clip-on frame of previous generations and it's good to see GoPro giving its...- Fold-out prongs mean you don't need a cage to mount it
- Better video stabilisation
- New timelapse features are great
- Won't fit older GoPro cases
- A little pricey
GoPro's Hero8 Black Is Boring, And That's What Makes It Great
No single upgrade in GoPro's new flagship camera will surprise you. There is no "new killer feature" that sets it apart from either the competition or last year's Hero7 Black. It doesn't even have a built-in selfie screen (although you can buy one as a new add-on "mod.
GoPro Hero 8 Black In-Depth Review
Like clockwork, GoPro has once again released their latest gen camera, this time the Hero 8 Black. While you'll undoubtedly hear about the headliner features like the improved stabilization via GoPro's new HyperSmooth Boost, the real goodness on this camera is actually some of the less attention...
GoPro Hero 8 Black
The Hero 8 Black comes across as an incremental update on the predecessor, but there's plenty of new features to keep the adventure seekers happy. Advanced stabilization, a new microphone and a more streamlined app makes the Hero 8 Black easy to use in fast-paced environments, while the new...- Best-in-class digital stabilization
- Time-saving Capture Presets
- Unique time-lapse modes
- New built-in mount
- Improved microphone
