Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600

The sheer range of materials the Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 can scan, and the quality with which it can scan them, makes it an outstanding product in its field.

The Good Book scanning - Scan Quality/Speed - Included productivity tools The Bad Price - Space commitment - Problems scanning black documents There are plenty of desktop scanning solutions on the market to add to productivity and cut down on desk clutter.

Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 review

A portable scanner which looks like a desktop lamp.

Accepts single sheet; stapled or bound - up to A3 size; Simple to use; Software de-skews; crops and rotates automatically

Slower than a sheet-fed scanner; Changing settings can be a fiddle; Sensitive to light

Fujitsu's ScanSnap SV600 avoids the problems afflicting other contactless scanners by using a motorised head. Unlike products such as Kodak's sceyeX , the head doesn't overhang the scanning area and cast a shadow over it. There's much more to the SV600 than this, too.

Impressive...

NewEgg has this for almost $200 cheaper then most other sites. I have worked with Fujitsu Scanner at work for years and they are built for Quality and Volume. I had been looking for a Book / Magazine Scanning solution for some time, but did not want to spend $3000 on one. This fit the bill!

Small Footprint (Can put it anywhere!) - Quality of Scans! - Adobe Acrobat XI Standard Included (This will cost you $200 alone

Not many, but could use some tweaks to the Software and Surface Mat; The Software is impressive overall, but it seems to have this "Apply to all" aspect to it; For instance I was scanning a Magazine publication and it assumed the one page rotation.

So after testing the Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600, we find that the scanner is definitely a one of a kind scanner which saves space and performs fast. But at its current price, it may prove to be a barrier for users on a budget.

Touch free scanner; Small footprint; Fast

Cannot correct page curvature accurately; Cannot scan transparencies; Price

Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600

The Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 ($795) is an unusual scanner . Built with an overhead scan unit. It literally offers a different perspective than a flatbed, looking down at a scan area instead of up through a glass platen.

Uses an overhead scanner, rather than the camera typically found in other similar models; Suitable for scanning documents, books, business cards, photos, 3D objects, and more

When automatic cropping for book pages doesn't work well; adjusting the crop lines can get tedious

Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 Review

The Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 ($795) is an unusual scanner. Built with an overhead scan unit. It literally offers a different perspective than a flatbed, looking down at a scan area instead of up through a glass platen. Although one of the best reasons to consider it is for scanning books, it's just as much a document scanner with additional capabilities. For anyone who needs this extras, it's worth checking out. Design Measuring 15.1 by 8.3 by 6.1 inches (HWD) overall, and weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces, the SV600 resembles a desktop lamp, with a wide base and a narrow vertical arm that supports an overhead scan unit instead of a light bulb. The scan area is the 17-by-11.8 inch flat space directly in front of the unit, which you cover with an included black mat to serve as a scan bed. Its most direct competition would arguably be a flatbed book scanner like the Plustek OpticBook A300 ($1,442.99 at B&H Photo Video) . However, the overhead scan design makes book scanning easier than wit...

The Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 is best understood as a document scanner, but it's also suitable for 3D objects, and it offers some features designed specifically for book scanning.

Not worth the money

If your going to purchase this scanner be prepared to spend hours editing scanned books. Also they force you to use their software, which is clunky and slow. The auto page turning feature also didn't always work, so I had to constant go back to my MacBook and click continue or click the scan button...

Great for Scanning Books!

I use this scanner to scan pages from my textbooks, so I don't have to lug them around in my bag. The software flattens out the pages perfectly and I can access them all from my laptop or cloud account.
