Fujifilm X-T20 Review

Fujifilm's X-T20 ($899.95, body only) exudes style. The retro-chic mirrorless shooter is loaded with physical controls, sports a touch screen, and packs a top-notch image sensor backed by a strong autofocus system. But it faces some very stiff competition from a pair of Sony cameras, including the less expensive Alpha 6000 ($649.99), which omits 4K video but is an otherwise excellent performer, and the slightly pricier Alpha 6300 ($999.99), which adds weather sealing and matches the X-T20 in 4K capability. But both Sony models offer strikingly different approaches to controls and handling, making the X-T20 an appealing alternative for photographers who prefer the physical dials around which Fujifilm has designed its control system. Design The X-T20 ($989.99 at Amazon) shares much of its technology with the company's flagship model, the X-T2, but sells for nearly half the price. It also takes design cues from its sibling, with a look that harkens back to old film cameras, in either...

The mirrorless Fujifilm X-T20 delivers the same image quality and focus capabilities as the pricier X-T2, but drops weather sealing and some other pro features to hit a lower price point.

24MP APS-C X-Trans III image sensor; 8fps burst rate; 14fps with electronic shutter; Big, sharp EVF; Tilting touch LCD; Loads of physical controls; Film Simulation options; 4K video capture; Wi-Fi

Omits in-body stabilization and weather sealing; No dedicated focus select control; Shooting buffer could be larger; 4K footage suffers from rolling shutter effect

Fujifilm XT20 review

Fujifilm's XT20 is a highly satisfying camera which packs the quality and autofocus of the flagship XT2 into a smaller, lighter and more affordable body. By sharing the same X-Trans III APSC sensor and image processor, the photo quality is identical – given the same lens of course – and since the AF...

Best out-of-camera quality in its peer group, Good quality viewfinder and tilting touch-screen, Good continuous AF in the middle of the frame, Built-in Wifi with smartphone remote control, Silent shutter option; E-Shutter up to 1/32000

Short movie clips: Ten or 15 minutes in 4k or 1080p, Basic three-frame AE bracketing; No Bulb timer, Touchscreen underused compared to rivals, Microphone input uses 2.5mm jack, SD slot doesn't exploit UHS-II speed, No built-in stabilisation, Geo-tagging in app limited to one location per session

Fujifilm X-T20 review: The retro touch

When we reviewed the Fujifilm X-T10 compact system camera , we felt that its retro style was just right. Now Fuji has introduced the X-T20 which maintains that touch of retro appeal - and you can take that "touch" aspect literally, thanks to the addition of touchscreen controls this time around.

Exceptional image quality leads in its class; improved autofocus and operation compared to predecessor; great retro style; touchscreen controls; decent built-in finder and tilt-angle screen

Would still like a Pinpoint-style autofocus mode; are some cheaper competitors (Lumix G80 the prime example); no weather-proofing; one card slot (which is poorly placed

Fujifilm's X-series is going from strength to strength, with its recent releases tempting many serious photographers away from their beloved DSLRs. Hot on the heels of the revamped X-Pro2 , ground-breaking X-T2 and recently released X100F , it's time for the X-T20, big brother to 2015's X-T10 , to...

The Fujifilm X-T20 is a happy medium between features and price

The Fujifilm X-T20 is an enthusiast's dream with excellent images, plenty of physical controls and a palatable price. The performance isn't best in class, but matches up well with the camera's price point.

Excellent image quality; Affordable price point; Solid design

Image processing can be slow; No ISO dial; No weather-sealing

Fujifilm X-T20 review

The X-T20 is a very compact camera that, now and again, feels like there are a few too many controls to leave proper space for your hands – but that's a minor quibble in the face of its image quality, features and performance. It's not just a brilliant camera: it's a bit of a bargain too.

Excellent OLED viewfinder; Very good kit lens performance; Superb value for money

Minor ergonomic issues; Can be awkward to change certain settings; Only one card slot

Fujifilm X-T20 review

The X-T2 is one of our favourite cameras at the moment, and with the X-T20 Fujifilm has managed to distill many of these key features into a slightly more compact and affordable camera that's likely to hit the sweet spot for many photographers.

Rich and detailed images; Tactile controls; Excellent handling; Advanced AF system; Film simulation modes

Limited touchscreen control; EVF magnification; Battery life could be better

Fujifilm X-T20 Mirrorless Camera Review

The Fujifilm X-T20 is a mirrorless system camera with a 24MP sensor that was developed by Fujifilm. This "X-Trans CMOS III" sensor is already used in Fujifilm's top-of-the-line X-T2 and X-Pro2 mirrorless cameras.

Review: Fujifilm X-T20 digital camera

After testing the X-T10 a couple of year ago I fell in love with it and brought one as my walk around/take everywhere camera, so when the chance came to get my hands on the updated version, the X-T20 I was excited!
