Fujifilm X-E3 review: Retro styling, cutting-edge tech

If you thought retro-styled cameras were simply a fad, then the continuous influx of rangefinder-styled models has proven otherwise. The combination of cutting-edge technology within a camera of classic design has proven extremely popular, with most brands offering DSLRs and mirrorless cameras with...

High image quality; Small size and light weight; Fast and responsive autofocus

No integral flash; Lacks weatherproofing

Great light camera stylish and performs well

I love Fujifilm X-Series and this is their lightest and most compact camera featuring an electronic viewfinder. Great film simulation including Acros for stunning black and white and a Velvia for brilliant colours. Great range of interchangeable lenses.

Not perfect but pretty good

Having already submitted a review of this camera to WEX that was not published I'm surprised to receive another review request. I won't waste my time now with a further detailed review and will just say it is a camera that is enjoyable to use despite a few quirks.

Compact; Discrete; Great Features; Great Picture Quality; Lightweight

Not weather/dust sealed; Some fiddly buttons; Strange LCD/EVF colours

I have been happy Fujian users for a long time, but this was my first watch of the new generation with X-Trans III. The impressions are mixed. + Pixel mapping and USB charging are estimated + Rap processor with all that means for AF and handling "Too little, I find no grip I like while the old X-E...

Fujifilm X-E3

The Fujifilm X-E3 produces some of the best in-camera JPEGs in terms of colour tone, colour accuracy, sharpness and details. It is also a very good all-round camera, and the compact size makes it a great camera to own.

Excellent colour accuracy and colour tone; Great dynamic range; Impressive high ISO performance; Film simulation modes work wonders; Impressive video recording capability; Produces some of the best in-camera JPEGs; Stable; non-faltering Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity

Autofocus performance is sub-par; Slight banding in low ISO; Not the fastest camera in the world

Fujifilm X-E3

The Fuji X-E3 is a stylish and easy to use APS-C camera. It is a big improvement over its predecessors in many ways, including its excellent, higher-res, 24-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III image sensor and the X-Processor Pro chip for impressive overall performance and 4K video capabilities.

Stylish, compact body; Great image quality; Very good overall performance; Touchscreen LCD; 4K UHD video recording, Great image quality with pleasing in-camera JPEGs, Impressive high ISO performance for an APS-C sensor, Flexible RAW files with X-Trans-compatible converters, Stylish, compact body...

Small EVF; Fixed display; Unreliable continuous autofocus, Eight-way joystick doesn't always accurately register presses, EVF is small, Fixed display, Some buttons are small and/or difficult to press, Indecisive and sluggish autofocus during video recording, No histogram or zebra warnings when...

terrific imaging, and fast handling

Small form factor, terrific imaging, and fast handling. If you can't afford an X-Pro2 or don't want the optical view finder, this is the rangefinder style camera for you!

The mid-range mirrorless camera market is currently buzzing with a number of good options to pick from. Sony has been enjoying the limelight for a while with its A6000 series of mirrorless cameras, and recently, we've seen Canon getting active in this segment too, introducing the EOS M50 in India at...

Stylish design; Very good image quality; Good high-ISO performance; Strong battery life; Compact and well built

AF tracking could be quicker; No tiltable screen; A bit expensive; Smartphone app feels clunky

Fujifilm X-E3 Mirrorless Camera Review

I was heartened to see the new Fujifilm X-E3 being promoted by the company as being "built from the essence of minimalism." In art and design, minimalism is paring down to bare essentials, a kind of "less is more and more is less" approach.
