Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 Review

Fujifilm launched its Instax Square film format along with the SQ10 last year. But the SQ10 didn't hit all the analog notes that instant photographers love—it's a digital camera with a built-in Instax printer. The Instax Square SQ6 ($129.95) is more affordable, without any of the digital features. We like some aspects, including its wide-angle lens and easy operation. It's a good choice for casual photographers and fans of a wide field of view, but if you're more serious about photography, you may be better served by the Lomo'Instant Square or Lomography's forthcoming Diana Instant Square. Hip to Be Square The SQ6 feels more like an Instax camera than its digital sibling, the SQ10. The body itself may take its design cues from, well, the Instagram logo. It's almost square, with a retracting lens that protrudes a bit, forming a circle not quite at its center. It measures 5.0 by 4.7 by 2.3 inches (HWD) and weighs 13.9 ounces. We received the Pearl White version for review, but it's ...

The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 is a purely analog square-format instant camera with automatic operation so it's as easy to use as a point-and-shoot.

Affordable; Wide-angle field of view; Decent close focus capability; Automatic operation; Fun, square format instant prints; True analog experience

Pricey film; Some ergonomic foibles; Not the sharpest lens; CR2 batteries aren't as common as AA

Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6

Fujifilm's new Instax Square SQ6 is the company's first instant analogue camera to use the square Instax film. Although the SQ10 also uses it, the SQ10 is basically a digital camera with an inbuilt printer, whereas the Instax Square SQ6 is a completely analogue camera.

Lens position

Lens to look out of before taking photo is not central and a little awkward to look into when capturing image.

New Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ6 Camera Blush Gold review

Neat little instant camera that sets the exposure automatically, although the flash is a little weak. You can however set the exposure +/- to your taste to lighten or darken the picture. I love the square analog format of the film, but wish the size was bigger like the old polaroids use to be.

Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 Taylor Swift Edition Review

Fuji's classic yet refined design gets a Taylor-centric makeover, but is just as user-friendly as before. Ideal if you're after a point-and-shoot that doesn't require thinking about focus or exposure, and for Swift fans, this special edition is the Instax to go for.

Uses most affordable Instax film; Classic design with added Swift-y goodness; Automates much of what makes instant shooting tricky;

Takes some of the fun away from shooting on instant; Not as flexible as rivals, with fewer optional accessories; Non-rechargeable batteries;

Instax Square SQ6 review

An attractive, retro-tinged design and solid feature set are enough to make the Instax SQ6 an easy recommendation - throw in the low price point and it becomes one of the best instant cameras on the market right now. If you want to shoot square format instant prints without breaking the bank, this is probably the camera for you.

You'll LOVE this camera

Instax is a wonderful, convenient format with wide potential - from my collective experience with Fujifilm Neo 90, Lomo'Instant Square and now the Fujifilm SQ6. (The Neo 90 is a joy to use too, with reliable results.

Easy to use; Build quality; Battery life

Fujifilm Instax SQ6 Instant Camera

great quality -- love the different modes, too. There's a timer, different flash colors, selfie mode (so it doesn't flip the picture the opposite way) and I am very pleased with it!
