The most frustrating computor accessory ever
Lots of problems. Doesn't work as it should. It creates some dark vertical lines on my black and white films. I have tried cleaning calibration area but didn't work.
I have to admit, this product is awesome. Wow! My parents bought us one of this last year so we can scan our old photos and keep them in high definition. I was suprised on how our old photos turned out to look after we scaned them using Espon Perfection V550 Photo.
Restores old photos with Digital ICE Technology
Quiet Expensive
Generally easy to operate the device. will operate easily for a beginner
Excelent scaner. Love it.
Features Handling Performance Verdict Specification The Epson Perfection V550 was announced on September 18, 2013. It is the size of a larger classic domestic flatbed scanner and of a similar weight, capable of scanning up to A4 documents as well as 35mm and 120mm film.
High resolution scans; Effective dust removal; Software supports multiple file formats; Histogram compensation adjustment; Batch scanning up to 12 images
Slow capture times; Auto exposure not effective with all negative types
I have not yet attempted to scan transparencies with this scanner, but its performance in scanning reflective images is good, and in line with my expectations from having previously used previous Epson Scanners of the same general character, which performed well. I have two small reservations.
Quick to start and provides good quality scans. Turns itself off after a while of non-use which is good. However the on switch is hidden on the side towards the back which is fiddly to find if you have the scanner next to other things. A switch on the front would have been better.
Great Picture Quality; Simple Controls
Bulky
This Epson scanner provides an excellent springboard for a photo-heavy workload with the occasional slide or negative thrown in. It is affordable, produces quality scans and has a decent array of applications. It is bulky, though, and the optional onsite warranty might cause some frowns.
Versatile; Quality is great; Decent scanning speed; Excellent value for money
It's big; Awkward position of power button; Onsite warranty is optional
Epson has a knack for making good photo and film scanners that don't break the bank, and the Epson Perfection V550 Photo Scanner($700.00 at Amazon) is no exception. It is very similar to the Editors' Choice Epson Perfection V500 , which it's replacing, but with two notable differences. It adds a utility that easily uploads scans to email, Facebook, and several cloud-based services. Gone, however, is Photoshop Elements, leaving the V550 without a bundled photo-editing program. Still, it brings to the table impressive scan quality, the ability to scan multiple 35mm slides or film negatives, and the Digital Ice hardware-based solution for film scanning. All this earns it the Editors' Choice for photocentric flatbed scanners. The V550 measures 4.6 by 11.2 by 19.1 inches and weighs 9.6 pounds. It has a maximum scan area of 8.5 by 11.7 inches, and a maximum optical resolution of 6,400 dpi. It can scan up to four 35mm slides, two rows of six negatives each, or medium-format film, with ...
The Epson Perfection V550 Photo Color Scanner makes high-quality scans from both photos and film, and can scan directly to Facebook and cloud-based sites.
