Good scanner, power button location could be improved
I have not yet attempted to scan transparencies with this scanner, but its performance in scanning reflective images is good, and in line with my expectations from having previously used previous Epson Scanners of the same general character, which performed well. I have two small reservations.

Very good scanner
Very clear résults. The only problem for me was to scan 4 slides at a time and after separate the 4 files with the right app. Didn't find the solution in the user guide.

EPSON Perfection V550 Photo Scanner
Pros:
- Relatively easy to set up & I am not a techno wizard
- Scans quickly and saves immediately on PC still need to play around and work out more features
Cons:
- No manual
- It had to be downloaded & this is a feature I dislike with any modern items
- Similarly I had to download the software due to the system I have

Very problematic
Lots of problems. Doesn't work as it should. It creates some dark vertical lines on my black and white films. I have tried cleaning calibration area but didn't work.

delivers amazing results once up and running
Really high quality scanner that you can trust, delivers amazing results once up and running. The set up instructions were very vague picture diagrams, and didn't have any written instructions available.

Epson Perfection V550 Photo Scanner review
This Epson scanner provides an excellent springboard for a photo-heavy workload with the occasional slide or negative thrown in. It is affordable, produces quality scans and has a decent array of applications. It is bulky, though, and the optional onsite warranty might cause some frowns.
Pros:
- Versatile
- Quality is great
- Decent scanning speed
- Excellent value for money
Cons:
- It's big
- Awkward position of power button
- Onsite warranty is optional

It says your Mac will require a software download. HA! The downloads available are old and do not let this scanner work with the latest OS updates you have put on your Mac computer. I'm sorry I didn't read ALL of the reviews and find this out in time to save the return shipping cost!
