Lightweight, a snap to maneuver and easy on the eyes, the cordless Dyson DC59 Animal is a surprising joy to use. It almost makes cleaning fun. Almost.

Some owners report that having to hold the trigger down for power can be a bit annoying. However, in previous Dyson stick vacs and handhelds this was a very common complaint while with the DC59 it is more of a passing comment.

Handheld vacuum cleaners are known for convenience, not power. They're good to have for small spills and to clean up corners and under furniture, but if you want to really clean your floors, an upright is probably a better choice.

I have 3 grandchildren under 2 years old. They love crackers, and they are messy. It makes my life so much easier to just grab my Dyson and spot clean while they enjoy their munching.

It picks up carpet much better than any vacuum I've used. I only wish I could dismantle the whole dust container and wash it with soap and water once in a while, but it's not immersible in water. Only the filter can be washed.

I bought this just over a month ago after debating for ages spending a lot of money on a vacuum cleaner but I am so glad I did. It is so easy to use and the sucking power is great. My bedroom carpet is always really difficult to hoover but my new Dyson just sucked everything up no problems at all!

Very pleased with this vacuum cleaner, so handy for quick clean ups and vacuuming the car.
