Dyson Supersonic review: the world's most expensive and high-tech hair dryer saves us 2.5 minutes per day and leaves our hair feeling salon smooth…

Dyson crows that the Supersonic is, 'up to eight times faster' than the current top-selling hair dryers in Japan (the country has a huge market for hair-styling tech, relative to its size), 'and half the weight'.
Pros:
  • Very powerful
  • Light and easy to use
  • Great
  • magnetic accessories
Cons:
  • Far pricier than any rival

Dyson Supersonic review

When most hair dryers will set you back £50-100, it’s tough to see exactly why the Supersonic costs a dizzying £300. Sure, it’s got the smallest digital motor Dyson makes inside it, and as the first of its kind the company can pretty much charge what it likes, but it means few people are going to be able to pick one up any time soon. If the price came down, I could see this being one seriously in-demand dryer, but right now, it’s a luxury. Dyson seems happy with early feedback though, so fingers crossed a cheaper model is on the cards. Buy the Dyson Supersonic here from Currys PC World
Pros:
  • Smart design, light weight
  • Leaves hair glossier than other dryers
  • Cools quickly after use, won't make you sweat
Cons:
  • Seriously expensive
  • Actually pretty loud

Wow!

I mean... this is like no other blow-dryer out there. The whole thing is incredibly sleek, and I like the controls, which give you three settings for heat and intensity that you can mix and match.

Review: Dyson Supersonic

Hair dryers are the least glamorous part of looking glamorous. They're cumbersome, their cords tangle easily, and they devour precious drawer space. The cheap $20 ones barely get the job done, while $200 "professional" models only provide marginal improvements on the same old technology.
Pros:
  • A smaller, hotter, and much improved hair drying experience
  • Smart design choices improve a frustrating product category in subtle yet important ways
  • Magnetic attachments can be rotated or swapped easily
  • Button placement prevents accidental knocks
Cons:
  • Cord is bulky compared to the rest of the device
  • Diffuser attachment is only so-so
  • High price causes hesitation
  • Sure, this product took four years to engineer and the results are fantastic
  • But $400 nearly doubles the industry average for professional-grade hair dryers, and that's a big jump

Dyson Supersonic

Dyson has already sexed up the vacuum cleaner and even the hand dryer, and now it's turned its attention to the humble hair dryer. The Supersonic has been four years in the making, at a cost of a cool £50 million.
Pros:
  • Dries in nearly half the time
  • Quiet
  • Hair appears smoother and straighter
Cons:
  • Pricey
  • No lighter than its rivals
  • You'll need to stop drying to change the temperature or speed

Dyson Supersonic

Most professional stylists and home users say the Dyson Supersonic is well worth its high price. Its fast-spinning motor, built into the handle, delivers gale-force airflow of over 60 mph, drying hair in record time – yet it's actually quieter than most hair dryers. It's feature packed, too.
Pros:
  • Powerful airflow
  • Quiet
  • Multiple heat and speed settings
  • Unique magnetic attachments
Cons:
  • Extremely expensive
  • Some complaints of hair damage

Excellent hair dryer

Great quality and very easy to use. Bought this item for my ten years old daughter. She love it and she can manage to dry her hair by herself without any problems.

Amazing!

I bought this a few weeks ago and I have waist length coloured blonde hair and it takes me 10 mins to blow dry my hair off and no frizz nice and my hair is soft and smooth. I have been using this on my Mums hair ( fine and delicate) and it's amazing on hers too a cool shot leaves it nice and shiny...

Dyson Diffuses Morning Stress

Couldn't imagine spending this much for a hair dryer, but it is used by multiple family members. Adds minutes to our morning, and the diffuser is great.
