Thoroughly enjoyed

A decent game, has actual choice variants and consequences. There are a couple of times that feel forced but overall is a solid 8/10 game. Worth a play for sure.

Detroit: Become Human

Present-day popular culture isn't lacking for smart takes on the concept of self-aware androids as allegory for prejudice and existentialism, from film ( Blade Runner 2049 ) to television ( Westworld ) to music (Janelle Monáe's Dirty Computer ) to video games ( NieR Automata ).

Detroit: Become Human review – robotic storytelling

A considerable improvement on Quantic Dreams' previous work, and while the storytelling is still flawed its tale of abused androids feels very human.

The branching storylines and multiple characters are handled well, with a surprising range of options and possibilities; Stunning visuals and generally good acting

There are still major problems with the storytelling, in terms of both interactivity and the themes it's trying to deal with; Clumsy controls and Connor has a bad case of ludonarrative dissonance

Detroit: Become Human review

Upon reaching Detroit's end credits for the first time you’ll likely wonder: would that have been a more effective and engaging experience if concentrated into a considerably shorter motion picture? Almost certainly, yes, it would. Cage has had a few cracks at this kind of cinematic adventure game now, and that this latest effort shows no significant progress (visuals aside) from his past two suggests he may have hit an underwhelming creative ceiling. It could be that he rises up, like Markus here, and tries again to merge two pretty distinct mediums. But as a fair few outcomes of Detroit make clear, that doesn’t guarantee a happy ending.

Brilliant voice acting performances; Stunning visuals;

Cliched story; Pacing issues; Limited player control ;

Detroit: Become Human Review

‘Quantic Dream' More like ‘QTE Dream'! Boom tish! Okay, that's the first and last time I'll make that joke, but it's incredibly apt, and especially for those of you who haven't ever really jumped into a David Cage experience -- the man likes his quick time events, and Detroit: Become Human is full...

It's interesting how far Quantic Dream has come with what are essentially big-budget visual novels. The developer's earlier works, Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Fahrenheit, leaned on the adventure side in terms of genre.

What if you already are

Solid and definitely has an audience. There could be some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.

Detroit: Become Human Review

is a poignantly pulpy interactive sci-fi drama where your choices can impact events to a greater and more satisfying degree than in most games of this type. Though I wish its story had been handled with a softer touch, especially considering the subtlety that can be conveyed through its tech and...
