Detroit Become Human Review – Rage Inside the Machine

Detroit Become Human is Quantic Dream's best game yet, though if you haven't been a fan of the studio's previous output, this is unlikely to change your mind. The QTE-heavy gameplay remains divisive, though this time around it's attached to a gripping story that - for the most part - avoids the...

Superb performances across the board; 40 hours of branching paths; Your choices drastically change the rest of the game; No finger-wagging against violent choices; One of the best-looking games on PS4

What does it mean to be alive - Detroit: Become Human review

Detroit: Become Human is a cinematic masterpiece, and easily the best work to date from developer Quantic Dreams. It's gorgeous, sounds beautiful, and the choices made here are impactful and introspective.

Among the best visuals on any platform to date; Gorgeous and moving score; Writing and decisions are insightful and impactful; Multiple playthroughs are encouraged; though the story is self-contained; Over a dozen hours per story run

Small bit of mip-mapping and the occasional framerate hitch; but not impactful for either; Dialogue choices are occasionally counter intuitive

PlayStation 4 Detroit: Become Human DETROIT review

This is a transhumanism story for the android set. I devoured every chapter of these artificial intelligences shedding their artifice. And I learned that being human is filled with daily acts of self-sacrifice.

Detroit: Become Human review

Upon reaching Detroit's end credits for the first time you’ll likely wonder: would that have been a more effective and engaging experience if concentrated into a considerably shorter motion picture? Almost certainly, yes, it would. Cage has had a few cracks at this kind of cinematic adventure game now, and that this latest effort shows no significant progress (visuals aside) from his past two suggests he may have hit an underwhelming creative ceiling. It could be that he rises up, like Markus here, and tries again to merge two pretty distinct mediums. But as a fair few outcomes of Detroit make clear, that doesn’t guarantee a happy ending.

Brilliant voice acting performances; Stunning visuals;

Cliched story; Pacing issues; Limited player control ;
