Dark Souls III

The first few undead warriors in Dark Souls III 's Cemetery of Ash might fail to gut players, but there's one hiding behind a gravestone, eager to finish the job. Should he fail, an archer waits in the distance, piercing players with arrows until they figure out how to roll out of the way.

Dark Souls III PS4 Review

There's always a moment in a From Software game where the experience is perfectly summed up in a minute of gameplay. It's different for each player, as skill levels vary what troubles you, but it does usually involve familiar patterns.

DLC Review: Dark Souls III: The Ringed City

The Ringed City , unlike Ashes of Ariandel or even Dark Souls III itself, features a visually enticing and deeply captivating opening, which instantly conveys the story behind the apocalyptic setting of the third and final entry of the Dark Souls series.

Visually Stunning; Expands Upon the Already large Arsenal of in Game Weaponry

Feels Like a Simple Adventure Game Rather Than a Expansive RPG; Portions of The Ringed City Reek of Deja Vu

Dark Souls III: Ashes Of Ariandel review – praise the arena

Splitting half the content between a mode many players won't be interested in is an odd decision, but short as it is the new area still has that classic Dark Souls appeal.

The usual great art and level design, with some interesting new enemies; The PvP arena works very well, even if it's not something every player will be interested in

The main single-player content is very short and, if you're a Dark Souls veteran, disappointingly straightforward; Optional boss is very forgettable

Dark Souls III review

Dark Souls III nails much of what made the first two in the series so special, but its world and enemies are unusually drab.

Solid gameplay; A few great bosses; Cool art and visual design; Great soundtrack; Okay PC port

Uninspired world; Poor enemy variety; A few lame bosses; Inconsistent difficulty; Weak graphics in some areas; Irithyll Dungeon in general

Review: Dark Souls 3 (PS4)

Crushed, stabbed, beaten, and back for more. The Souls franchise has grown famous for its steep difficulty curve and cult following, and in that sense, Dark Souls 3 doesn't disappoint.

Challenges are as difficult and thrilling as ever; Grimdark world that's both enchanting and ominous; Great level design that encourages exploration; Improved combat and multiplayer; Satisfying end to the Souls series

Lack of player direction at times; Convoluted side quests; Old multiplayer problems persist

All the flavors come together

With 2009's Demon's Souls , From Software gave me something that I'd never had before, and I was initially apprehensive about it-much like I am with new foods. The ingredients were familiar since I'd played Action-RPGs in the past, but they'd never been put together in quite that way.

Dancer of the Boreal Valley; Pontiff Sulyvahn; and the Abyss Watchers

A key NPC vanishing after I failed his quest without realizing it

Dark Souls 3 Review

The latest Souls adventure actually takes a little while to click. For a while it feels as though you're playing a FromSoft game; a Souls game, and it's all fine and good, almost like putting on a pai

Incredible world building; Combat is still the best; Rewarding like few other games; The best co-op implementation so far

Frame-rate issues are persistent on console; Some bosses feel unfair; Way too many mimic-chests; Invasion latency is currently poor

Dark Souls III : From Software, do they really need an introduction?! The developers of the excellent Kings Field series on the PS1 (Think Arx Fatalis -type of game, first-person-console RPG), not forgetting their Armoured Core series of games and a little known game outside of Japan, during 2009,...

PlayStation 4 Review: ‘Dark Souls III – The Ringed City' DLC

At the tail end of March, the final DLC addition to Dark Souls III was released, and 20-plus hours of play later (but with a boss or two still to be defeated), this reviewer is more than pleased with it.
