Damnation Review
Codemasters present us with a "Vertical Shooter" but does it cut the mustard?

"Damnation (PS3) Torment and annoyance. Not for me!"
You play a charcter called Hamilton Rourke in third person. He's a member of a rebel gang in 19th century America, during which time steam-powered robots and technological weapons were introduced.
Pros:
- Great moves
- Easy to follow story line
Cons:
- Boring
- Annoying
- Poor gameplay, graphics and sound effects

Ummmmm what
Well i bought this game when it first came out and it was good. Now let me just say i had this game for only 53 hours! I had a lot of trouble with it a little later. It skipped and had a lot of glitches. I know this sounds crazy but even the graphics were horrible!

Damnation
Steampunk, a genre you rarely see outside its own niche-borders, but which is making quite an appearance lately. In recent years we've seen a number of movies and comics that introduce this genre.

Jonas would rather take part in the actual american civil war than ever again have to suffer through the alternative digital civil war in Blue Omega Entertainments Damnation...

Damnation review
Let's make this clear right away: Damnation is a game that lives up to its name. A game that promises a lot with its Steam-punk theme and its grand scale, but fails to live up to expectations. A game that is ultimately damned. To understand why, we need to look at where things went wrong.

An Awesome Concept and Setting Can't Elevate Lame Writing and Gunplay
In 1999, Alan Moore wrote The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It proved two things. One: Classic literature is still cool. Two: If you are going to write about an alternate historical reality that meshes steampunk with ancient mysticism, you'd better be a damn good writer.

This third-person shooter is a trip into hell.
Damnation's biggest accomplishment is making steampunk look bad. Even the usually cool mashing up of fantasy and sci-fi can't save developer Blue Omega Entertainment's mess of a third-person shooter.
Pros:
- Out-of-the-ordinary steampunk story and setting
- Some of the leaping-around acrobatics can be mildly amusing
Cons:
- Mindless combat
- Shooting-gallery enemy AI
- Annoying frame rate hitches and visual bugs
- Abysmal voice acting
- Grating weapon sound effects

Damnation
Every once in a while, a game comes along that completely blows your expectations wide open. Moseying on into town, Stetson angled down over its eyes, Damnation is one of those very games. But for all the wrong reasons.
