D-Link DCS-930L D-Link Wireless N Network Camera Reviewed
Over the years, I've had an occasional need for a security camera to watch over my house. I've checked out a few cameras, but found that the inexpensive units on the market were really no more than toys that weren't suited for 24/7 deployment. But times change.
Pros:
- Low cost
- 802.11n wireless
- Good quality video
- including low light
- Audio monitoring
Cons:
- A few quirks
- Recording not built in
- Motion detection setup can be finicky
- No MacOS setup or mgmt / recording support

DCS-930L Wireless N Network Camera
After we reviewed the DropCam Echo a few weeks back and found ourselves generally unimpressed, we received an e-mail from someone at D-Link saying something to the effect of: "Dude, you have to try out our thing, because our thing is totally better than their thing and costs a heck of a lot less
Pros:
- Wireless connectivity
- Easy setup
- Relatively low cost
Cons:
- Poor image quality
- Software is unintuitive
- Seizure-inducing blinkenlight

Don't buy this.
Picked it up today and tried setting it up. Seemed simple enough. Plug in, run wizard, PRESTO. Didn't do that. For whatever reason, plugging the ethernet cable into my network router cut off my internet two or three times, and there was no way the device/wizard would connect to the DLink system, so...

Not what I thought it would be
I thought this would save the recordings in the cloud but it doesn't (unless I have not understood) it only allows live viewing. to record you require access to a PC or laptop which requires to be on continuously

D-Link DCS-930L
Don't buy this model. Nothing shows in low light. It was a total loss. DCS-933L is much better model.

You get what you pay for
I even attempted to upgrade the firmware to 1.06, and there was no improvement in operation. If you set up in third party software, make sure to set it up to MJPEG stream at path /video.cgi Other paths /image.jpg and /audio.cgi appear to work, but no idea what codec used for audio stream.
Pros:
- Ability to use wireless VGA-20fps (640X480
Cons:
- Unable to connect to telus wireless router
- (actiontec) Crashes the router when connected wireless Unable to be used in daylight (gama too high - saturated image Flickering and lines in image (even with anti-flicker set in firmware Software and documentation terribly lacking detail and...

Not a bad camera and it certainly works NOW. It did take almost six months from the time of purchase before it was even usable, due to wonky drivers and a horrible system to initially set it up. The app for remote access is simply so-so also due to it not running off the SD card. You can access...

The problem is with Android, not the camera
Camera is very easy to setup, no brainer.. but must b connected wired first before it can be wireless. Once it goes online, u pretty much can view it from your web browser or via mobile app (iOS). Yes, it lacks of features but that's what u get for chepo one.
Pros:
- cheap
- easy to configure
- easy to use via browser or app
Cons:
- low res
- lack of features
- no night vision
