Tough, lightweight, and featuring excellent read speed, the Corsair Flash Survivor is a very capable USB drive for klutzes and outdoor types alike. Priced for less than $50 at select online retailers, the Corsair Flash Survivor doesn't offer security features, but casual users looking for large...
Rugged construction; Water resistant; Fast read speed; Ten-year warranty,
Slow write speed; No data encryption,
We tested the 32GB Survivor, which costs a heart-stopping $229.99 list-but that works out to $7.19 per GB, a much better deal than the 4GB version at $12.50 per GB ($49.99 list), if you care to look at it that way. The Survivor also has 8GB ($79.99 list) and 16GB ($129.99 list) versions.
The most durable drive going; Ten-year limited warranty
Cap is as big as the drive; lose it and you lose the durability
The Survivor is certainly the toughest drive in the group, thanks to its screw-on aluminium outer casing and watertight seals. This makes it rather chunky, but it feels indestructible. The drive comes with the free 256-bit TrueCrypt encryption software.
I remain very impressed with the Survivor GT and would consider it an invaluable asset in my tech tool kit.
Extra strong case; 8GB capacity; fast data transfers
Bulky and heavy; price per GB is spendy
I love how strong and robust the construction is, waterproof with an O-ring, etc. It feels like you could run it over and it would be fine. It isn't too heavy due to aluminum construction, but not small in size or light either.
Durability; durability; durability
Large size..; but that's what makes it durable
Almost everyone today has a Flash drive sitting on their computer desk, after all they are invaluable for moving data between work and home or to pass files between friends. Another important use for USB drives is to back up sensitive and important data, which leads me nicely into the product we...
We previously reviewed the 8GB version of the Survivor and were impressed enough to give it a Kick Ass award, due in part to its ability to survive our extensive series of durability tests unscathed.
Indestructible formfactor makes this a go-to device for your next secret mission
Some minor issues have yet to be fixed
There is no doubt in my mind that the Corsair Survivor 32GB Ultra Rugged USB 2.0 Flash Drive is one tough mother. After enduring things that a regular USB drive would have disintegrated in, it's safe to say that the Corsair Survivor is really a survivor.
My first thought when I picked up the Corsair Flash Survivor USB drive was that it's huge. Much bigger than the pictures had looked online. I would say it's about a quarter inch longer than the average USB flash drive , and a quarter of an inch taller.
