Minimal customization options. Everything comes out with slight blur. Not as neat as it seems. Seems over the top but actually pretty basic. But once you figure the designing out it good. Not really good at the fancy pic shown in the picture with the fruit.

The Brother VC-500W is a specialized sibling of ZINK mini photo printers that cranks out handy full-color labels for homes and small businesses. It's not cheap to use, but it's a nifty little device.
Pros:
  • Prints high-quality color labels in varying sizes
  • Choice of four label widths
  • Reasonable print speeds.
Cons:
  • Relatively high running costs
  • Not suited for printing hundreds or thousands of labels monthly.

Brother VC-500W Compact Color Printer Review

The Brother VC-500W is a specialized sibling of ZINK mini photo printers that cranks out handy full-color labels for homes and small businesses. It's not cheap to use, but it's a nifty little device. A unique full-color label printer, Brother's VC-500W Compact Color Printer ($149.99) uses the same zero-ink (ZINK) technology deployed in today's mini photo printers, including our Editors' Choice HP Sprocket Select or the Canon IVY Photo Printer. With the VC-500W, though, you have a lot more options, including churning out prints in varying widths and lengths up to 17 inches long, as well as Brother's robust (albeit, at times, somewhat clunky) software. Like its pocket-size mini photo printer kin, the VC-500W is somewhat expensive to use, but it's well-developed enough to serve both households and small businesses in printing full-color labels for varying applications, making it the first Editors' Choice in PCMag's new consumer color label printer category. Mini Déjà vu The VC-500W is not the first label printer of its kind. Actually, it's the result of Brother's acquisition and makeover of a previous product known as the ZINK hAppy Smart App Printer reviewed here back in March ...
Pros:
  • Prints high-quality color labels in varying sizes
  • Choice of four label widths
  • Reasonable print speeds
Cons:
  • Relatively high running costs
  • Not suited for printing hundreds or thousands of labels monthly

Could use some directions. Doesnt tell you how to do anything. The directions only talk about how to make it work. I went on line to download what thought would be how to use it different ways, but was the same how to put it together guide. I hope there are YouTube videos somewhere.

Disappointing Product

I was really excited to get my hands on this. A great quality, yet frustrating product. The desktop version of Software seems to be outdated with no new available update to be found online, thus not allowing you to use this device to its full capability and only being able to print in two tones, not full colour. The mobile app works fine but is incredibly frustrating to have to use one's phone. A near good quality print, however, label adhesive is not as strong as desired. Sticking to (curved) glass isn't possible as it just lifts away. Complete waste of money.

I hate this so much

No bluetooth connectivity so you're stuck messing about a mini wifi hotspot. The iPrint and label app isn't compatible. Glitchy. Colour rendition isn't very good.
