Review: Brother MFC-L8850CDW

Brother printers have usually been designed for individual to SOHO uses, but the company has just launched a new range geared towards corporate use. We recently spent some time with the MFC-L8850CDW, which is pitched at organisations with around 20-50 users, and that could include SOHO environments...

This midprice color laser AIO offers good print speeds along with fast single-pass duplex scanning, copying, and faxing. It's also office-friendly, though the quality of the prints, copies, and scans could be better.

Fast print speeds; plus single-pass duplex scanning; copying; faxing; Big color touch screen; AirPrint and Google Cloud Print support; Can function as a stand-alone copy; scan; or fax machine

Graphics print quality slightly below average; Copy and scan quality below average; Modest paper capacities; given size; Extra paper tray is pricey

FAST & CAPABLE Workgroup Multifunction LOADED with FEATURES & MOBILE CONNECTIVITY

The MFC-L8850CDW is a fast and capable workgroup multifunction loaded with impressive features and networking and it is built to last. The Brother software has a smallish footprint and does not bog down your computer with marketing software. It's all business. The MFC-L8850CDW is one HEAVY printer.

Brother MFC-L8850CDW review

Colour laser multifunction peripherals (MFPs) are never beautiful, but the clunkiest thing about Brother's MFC-L8850CDW is its name - we challenge you to remember it after a drink.

Brother MFC-L8850CDW

Brother's MFC-L8850CDW is a good colour laser MFP, but we'd go for a high-end inkjet alternative

Great Printer

Very easy to set up & use wireless. Print quality is very good. When printing large number of copies it stops for a few seconds every 30 pages or so I assume to prevent heat build up. It still prints 32 pages per minute with the pause. Excellent app to print from your Android or Apple phone.

easy set up and operation

screen needs to be well below eye level to read

Works Just Fine

The printer works as described. Some people have described this as a monster product but once out of the box I found it not much different than other similar products to move and place on the counter. The installation software was easy to run and seemed to work ok.
