The good: Good print quality and print speed The bad: When I first picked up the box I expected it to be much heavier. Once unpacked, the printer feels cheap. The plastic is much thinner than the HL-6050 that it replaces and the paper feed rollers are smaller.

Worst printer EVER!

Would NOT recommend this printer. Brother's service rep's recommendation was to remove it from my office to another room. Reconnect to a different outlet, then snake a 30 foot USB cord thought the rooms from the printer to the computer. REALLY Another recommendation was to hire an electrician.

Worked for 6 months without issue

This printer has electrical surge issues; READ all reviews before you contemplate buying; Their website gives you 10 steps to fix it; NONE worked; If I could give it a minus egg, I would

Great for Small Office

I replaced an HP laser printer with this machine. This machine is really good for printing envelopes with a straight through path. The back opens up and the envelopes go straight through without wrinkling.. Its also prints duplex really well which saves money on paper. I really love this machine.

Good print quality but gets through a lot of toner so loses stars

We have this at work for a team of 20 on a network. Duplex is fast but it gets hot after 100 or so pages. It will print 400 pages quite happliy from the extra tray in one go. My main gripe is it uses lots of toner. 1,000 sides of A4 text and it starts to complain about low toner.

Fuzer kit ($160) died after only 25, 000 pages. Laser kit at 42% life.

Faded print outs after only 25,000 pages. I had to buy a a $160 fuzer kit . I also noted that the laser unit has 42% life remaining. I searched online and found out that many small business owners like myself have the same problem. Brother used to make reliable products . Not any more .

Brother HL-6180DW

Although you wouldn't guess it from the model number, the Brother HL-6180DW is best understood as a heavier-duty version of the Editors' Choice Brother HL-5450DN that I recently reviewed.

Duplexer and 550-sheet capacity standard, 1,050-sheet maximum; Low running cost; Ethernet; Wi-Fi

Although acceptably fast for the price; it's slower than you might expect for the rated engine speed

Fast Printer with a 500 Page Paper Tray

I would have given this a full five stars but I had no idea the multi-purpose tray only holds a maximum of three envelopes. Nowhere in the description tells you this. Other than that, the print is great, even at 600 dpi and 6 pt. type. Pretty loud when it prints, it's right next to me on my desk.

Good Value; Easy to Use; Fast; Easy to Set Up; Performance

multi-purpose tray only holds a max of 3 envelopes
