If you're looking to buy a printer for a small to mid-size workgroup, the Brother HL-4070CDW makes an excellent choice.

This well-featured colour laser printer is up to the task of everyday office use, producing good-quality text and images.

A close cousin to the Brother HL-4150CDN ($400 street, 3 stars) that I reviewed earlier this year, the Brother HL-4570CDW ($500 street) offers faster speed and a wireless connection to justify the higher price.

Excellent printer. When printing large jobs, the printer does run around 28-30ppm black & white. The only issue is the shallow depth of the paper catch tray, which after a large about of printing, will overflow. Making it deeper would be a great improvement.

Love the printer even if the colours are too dark for photos. the downside is a 6000 page toner only prints about 3000 even on toner save. The help desk suggested I never switch it off (???) and that would cure the fault. Guess what, it didn't.

In most respects the Brother HL-4570CDW color laser printer is a good value. Its US$500 price tag (as of December 16, 2010) is budget-friendly for small and medium-size workgroups, as are its reasonable toner costs. Its speed and features are competitive with those of the pricier Dell 3130cn .
