Bought for use in small law office. The printer requires changing the color and black toner cartridges based on pages printed. The printer will not function unless new cartridges are installed.

This is by far the worst printer I have ever used, it is unbelievably rubbish, it takes hours to warm up, ages to print, massive delays between printing pages. Print more than ten pages and the ink smells the office out so badly it gives you an acrid taste to the mouth and sore eyes and I am...

To give you an example of what to expect on a DAILY bases: Today we've printed 6 sheets of labels, 2 of them jammed! Jamming is a constant issue with this printer. We just started printing for the day, and sadly we expect more problems to occur.

The Brother MFC-9970CDW would be a good option if you also need copy and scanning. I will need to purchase a MFC with auto document feeder.

It's been three and a half years since I reviewed the Brother HL-4040CN ($400, 3 stars), Brother's first printer using its own color laser engine. My conclusion then was that it was a reasonable choice for a small office or workgroup, but its paper handling was a little limited.
