The QuietControl 30 is the biggest change in Bose's QuietComfort lineup since it first launched in 2013. It's such a significant change, in fact, that if you pay close attention, you'll notice it gets its own branding.
Unbeatable noise cancellation; Wireless connectivity; Solid audio performance with rich bass and crisp highs; Ambient mics allow you to monitor your surroundings
Neckband design is not for everyone; Expensive
The QuietControl 30 is the biggest change in Bose's QuietComfort lineup since launched its first in-ear noise cancelling pair in 2013. It's such a significant change, in fact, that if you pay close attention, you'll notice it gets its own branding. But make no mistake, the $299.95 QuietControl 30 is every bit as comfortable as the over-ear QuietComfort 35 ($299.00 at Amazon) , it just happens to come in the form of wireless earphones. The neckband-style design may be a deal breaker for some, but the noise cancellation circuitry is the best available. And the Bose Connect app allows you to control the excellent ambient mic feature as well, making this a versatile, capable set of earphones that is destined to be many a business traveler's favorite carry-on item. The QC 30 may not be cheap, but it's worth it, and easily earns our Editor's Choice award. My experience with the QC30 has been really great. Noise cancelation is very good when the earpieces are properly fitted in my ear - better than my QC20i. The sound with music is definitely better than my QC20i's. Excellent separation, clarity and base.
Noise Cancelation quality and adjustability, Comfort, Mic during calls, Excellent Sound Quality, Connects to 2 devices, Bose Cust; Service
Neckband can rotate; BT connection is a bit weak sometimes
So long as you don't expect the most powerful noise-canceling, the QuietControl 30 works really well as an everyday headphone. You can use it at the gym or for running.
The Bose QuietControl 30 is well-built, very comfortable to wear, offers variable noise-canceling and excellent sound quality for a Bluetooth headphone; It's also sweat-resistant and can be used as a sports headphone; Works well as a headset.
Pricey; Noise-canceling isn't as effective as QuietComfort 20 or QuietComfort 35; No wired option to plug into airline entertainment systems.
Think of Bose's QuietControl 30 ($300, £230 or AU$449) as the ultimate neckband-style Bluetooth headphone. (That's the style that looks like a horseshoe draped around the back of a person's neck, which LG pioneered with its top-selling Tone series.)

As alluded to by their name, Bose's QuietControl 30 headphones are the company's first active noise-cancelling headphones that give you granular control over the level of noise blocking.
Adjustable ANC for more situational awareness; Earbuds are very comfortable; Very portable
ANC performance not quite as good as alternatives; Collar design can be uncomfortable
When you think of noise-cancelling headphones you probably picture bulky over-ear cans like the Bose QuietComfort 35 s or the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless , but three years ago Bose turned its noise-cancelling chops to in-ear headphones, and the result was the excellent Bose QuietComfort 20i .
Superlative noise cancellation and good sound quality, but there's too much wrong with the design of the Bose QuietControl 30
Great noise cancelling; Good sound quality; Compact and lightweight
Uncomfortable; awkward design; Mediocre battery life
After trying Jaybird Bluetooth headphones (no hate, never fit me) I finally tried out the Bose brand. I was very impressed with the product and the build quality of it. The ear buds fit almost perfectly in my ears. The sound quality was very good with great mids and bass sound.
