Although expensive, this three-piece speaker system is one of the more distinct-looking and attractively designed PC speaker packages we've seen -- and it sounds pretty good, too.

Bose Companion 5

Bose's flagship computer speakers are engineered to bring a lot more sound than you'd ever expect possible from two satellites and a subwoofer.

Short Life Span
With new MacBook Pro's; forget it. Aside from that, as usual with Bose, they don't last very long in terms of quality. After 6 months, I had to replace them. Fortunately, you'll get much better sound quality for a much better price from Altec Lansing and they'll last you longer.

Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System
The Bose Companion 5 multimedia speaker system is a sleek black-and-gray 2.1 setup promising "surround-like" performance. Though it's aimed at the desktop-computer crowd (it connects via USB), it could easily fill a living room with sound.
Pros:
- The subwoofer delivers nice rumble
- Speakers widen the stereo image
- Great for desktop or home listening
- Wired control has volume and mute button
Cons:
- "Surround-like" is NOT real surround sound
- The satellites are lacking in the mid-high frequencies
- Control is wired

BOSE COMPANION 5: Good for a desktop user but WAY too expensive
The Companion 5's work well enough for the small desktop environment, but, their huge price tag and only moderate preformance stop me from recommending them.
Pros:
- Attractive
- high quality design
Cons:
- Doesn't truly give surround sound
- Bypasses sound cards
- Sound range

great for a short time
I have purchased 2 sets of these and both times they played really awsome for about 1.5 years and both sets have died out on me after that. They are really awsome for the sound and money at first but it is VERY agrivating to have both set die on me in such a short time.

Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speakers
Bose's high end multimedia speakers look as though they belong on the set of Star Trek, but how do they sound?
