Review: Bodycount (PS3)

The scoring system may seem a little tricky at first, but it generously doles out multiple rewards further in the game. There's plenty of room to move around in the maps and line up shots with precision. This freedom is leveraged to reward Skillshots involving headshots, grenades, and landmines.

Refined visuals; Semi-destructible environments; Fun skillshots

Limited number of guns and maps; Short gameplay; Repetitive missions; Lacklustre AI

Bodycount

Bodycount is an arcade-style first-person shooter that borrows so many different elements that there's almost nothing left that's distinctive about it. Well, that's not entirely true. The most distinctive aspect of Bodycount is how it muddles the features of games it tries to emulate.

PS3/X360 Review - 'Bodycount'

In Bodycount players become ensnared in a clandestine global power struggle as a powerful combat asset with a green-light to eliminate enemies known only as ‘Targets' on behalf of the ‘Network'.

Bodycount

If it moves, shoot it until it stops moving.

Shooting mechanics are tight; good environments; nice sound design; Plenty of things to shoot

Iron sight mechanics have a learning curve; Story is nowhere in sight; AI is really dumb

This game is a brand new level of racism. I've played it for a few hours now, and I killed hundreds of black people. Also they are the dumbest enemies in video game history, making the Goombas from Super Mario Brothers looking like geniuses.

From the outset, Bodycount seems to be a mixture of elements from action titles of the past. A little bit of Halo plus a generous helping of Soldier of Fortune (with some Red Faction thrown in for seasoning) creates a stew pot that ends up serving gamers a meal that is sharp on flavor but low on...

Bodycount

Bodycount is an enjoyable game, but it's fundamentally flawed. The flaws will put off a lot of people, with the short campaign not amusing as many as it will inevitably frustrate.
