Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Review
They're cheaper, but can the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x live up to the expectations set by the more popular ATH-M50 series?

- Excellent sound quality
- Comfortable
Cons:
- No mic / remote

Outstanding headphones. Very good price.
For the $100 price point, these cans are the best you can do. They are of excellent build quality, and are almost as good as their big brother the ATH-M50x. I mean REALLY CLOSE. Listening to these headphones is amazing.
Pros:
- Tuned flat, sound is exactly what artist originally recorded
- Exactly
Cons:
- Some may not appreciate the tuned down bass

Exactly what I was looking for
Using these headphones i'm hearing certain songs in ways I've never heard before, with incredible comfort that makes me forget i'm even wearing them. Very durable, too. You won't regret buying these; they're worth every dollar.

Audio-Technica ATH-M40x
For the price, the ATH-M40x is terrific value. Good, sharp sound that reveals little details in songs. I'm happy rediscovering a lot of my music as it has added new depth to my music library. Yet still, I don't love the M40x like I did my old IM70s.
Pros:
- For neutral studio monitoring
Cons:
- Clamp/earpads very uncomfortable

"Bessst headphones!"
These headphones are the bessst! They sound flat and accurate. They reproduce sounds very accurately. They sound like my Mackie studio reference monitors. I am very impressed to find headphones of this quality for less than 100 dollars. I am very satisfied with these headphones.

I know these are meant for professionals but I am sure I am not the only audiophile that just wants these for my iPhone music, so for this task both cords are uber long, like ridiculously so. I could listen to my music and jump rope with the extra cord.. Seriously!

+as clear as mid to high end headphones at a quarter the price! +portable +very clear high end and mid range +extreme clarity +textured base -Base is not as strong, but still very detailed -Carrying bag useless -cords too long Solid entry into headphone market.
