Please note that I am not even anywhere close to being an expert in this field but I really enjoy listening to music of all kinds. here are some of my opinions: Noise Cancellation is on point. when listening to music or watching a movie, it does cancel out my sound souroundings.
Noise Cancellation Audio Technica is no newcomer to noise cancelling headphones. They have released a number in the past including the best-selling ath ANC7b's. So what makes the ANC 9 unique? Well it features a new technology developed by audio Technica known as tri-level noise cancellation.
Very good audio quality; nice accessories; tri-level noise cancellation is quite effective
Still a bit pricey at 200$; Not very portable due to bulky case

good product; did not feel strong hiss as multiple review site claims
No
This is very good product, I have used them and they are fabulous, the sound is crystal clear. Only one drawback and that is that there is no rechargeable battery, that would be big win.
I had a pair of Bose QC3's that failed, and after doing some research and checking out a co-workers QC25's I decided to not go with Bose's trade-in program and look into another brand.
The headphones are good, overall sound-quality is average and the noise-cancelling works, there noise cancelling is just average (not that great as Bose QC25). If your a audiophile like me I would recommend the 'Audio-Technica ATH-M70x', it around the same price and the audio sound great.
Works as advertised. I can detect white noise in background when active cancellation is on. Use headphones when background noise in office gets too irritating. By themselves with active cancellation can still hear loud talkers sitting next to me in office.
The Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 noise-cancelling headphones are very easy to use and carry around. They cancel a fair amount of noise and are extremely lightweight. Still, they don't rank very high in our comparison because they lack Bluetooth, and higher-ranked models have better sound quality.
These headphones weigh under 8 ounces; so they're super light and easy to wear
They don't have Bluetooth; so you always need the cable to listen
I used this for the office, to work quietly and it performs great. The only sad part consumes battery power as crazy it last just 2 days on. just be aware to turn it off when you are not using it and done. :)
