ASUS Zenbook 3 UX390UA Hands-on Review: Finally, A Real Macbook Air Killer
The term "Macbook Air" killer has been bandied about by Apple's competitors ever since the firm from Cupertino outed their first ultra-thin notebook. But to be completely blunt, the "killers" turned out to be mere copycats, offering performance that came pretty close to Apple's offering but never...
Asus ZenBook 3 review
There's a saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery – but not for Asus. The ZenBook 3 is the Taiwanese electronics firm's latest 12.5 inch MacBook-killing Ultrabook. It doesn't just so much imitate as it does completely destroy Apple's ultrathin laptop in specs and price.
Asus ZenBook 3 review: This MacBook clone is powerful but too faithful to the original
If you like to travel light, compromise is a way of life. We've seen a bounty of ultraportable laptops this year, and everyone of them has had to give at least a little on weight, price, hardware, or build quality.
Personal computers come in all shapes, sizes and prices, and it's possible to get a basic but competent machine for under Rs 30,000 today. Spending more gives you access to machines that are better in different ways, from being more powerful and capable to simply looking better.
The ZenBook lineup is Asus' premium tier of laptops, with the focus generally being on style and portability. Our last outing was with the ZenBook Flip UX360A , which turned out to be a surprisingly affordable 2-in-1 laptop with good performance and features.
- High-end model is too expensive
- Keyboard isn't great for extensive typing
- Type-C port uses older USB spec
- Limited physical connectivity
It doesn't look like what it actually is. You might fall into an initial blow by the way it looks. The Asus ZenBook 3, which resembles Apple's Macbook (2015) form factor, is actually not too different from it.
- Sleek and lightweight design
- Bold and vibrant display
- Lightning fast
- Long lasting battery life
- Novel cooling engine
- Loud and premium audio output
- Keyboard isn't very user friendly
- Build quality is suspect
- Lacks enough connection ports
ASUS ZenBook 3 UX390UA Laptop Review
Battery life was about average with the UX390UA, but with a 15W processor there is nothing to really complain about here. We use a 180 lux screen brightness (71% on this screen) for this test, and if you use a lower brightness setting (I am generally at 120 lux) then it should last much longer than...
Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490UA
The Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490UA is a stylish 14in laptop that ticks most of the relevant boxes while falling short on a couple of key points. From an aesthetic perspective, the £1,200 base model appears to be worth every penny, with Asus's rigid and incredibly thin chassis doing a grand job of...- Capable all-round performance
- Enjoyable keyboard and trackpad
- Three USB Type-C ports
- Beautiful 14in form factor
- Ultra thin and light
- No touchscreen option
- Fan noise is distracting
- Poor quality webcam
Beware of Quality Issues!
After using this laptop for about four months, I feel I really need to write about it since I feel there's no one complaining about it yet... Maybe I am the only one experiencing these problems since I did buy it the day it became available on Newegg.- Small
- - BLUE SCREEN - Believe it or not, this laptop blue screens quite often (2-3 times a week of daily 6 hrs/day of use), more than my other laptops running windows 10
- Most of the time, the blue screen happens when you hear the CPU fan running for a period and laptop is more toward the warmer side
ASUS Zenbook 3 Ex-Demo UX390UA-GS085T Premium Ultrabook in Rose Gold Colour 12.5" FullHD Intel i5-7200U 8GB 512GB SSD NO-DVD Win10Home 64bit 1yr warranty - Thin & light, less than 1kg
I bought this for my partner at her request. While it is really light, and the screen is excellent there are 2 related drawbacks so big that it's barely getting used : The only USB port is a USB-C port used for charging.
