If you're in the market for an ultraportable laptop you'll no doubt already have eyed up the 12in MacBook – but you may well have been unsure whether the low-power processor will meet your needs, or indeed unsure about switching to macOS. The ZenBook 3 makes a very interesting alternative.

Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA
The ZenBook 3 has redefined the Ultrabook, with the lightest and thinnest Intel Core i-powered laptop on the planet. However, as you might expect, the compromises that are made when you shrink a laptop down are notable, but certainly not deal-breakers.
Pros:
- Great design
- Incredibly lightweight
- Excellent performance
Cons:
- Volatile battery life
- Not enough ports
- Core i5 model is better value for most

Amazing power in such a tiny package.
I bought this netbook for my younger brother for Christmas (He's 36 years old). He's had it for a little over a month now so I think it's safe to put in my review on his behalf. A Stunning and Powerful Prestigious Laptop
The Asus UX390UA is one of the most stunning laptops I have ever seen. It has beautifully vinyl like brushed finish on top of the aluminium casing and it has a gold finish around the edges making it look prestige and luxurious.
Pros:
- Fingerprint Lock
- Full HD Screen
- Good Specifications
- Good Speed
- Great Backlit Keyboard
Cons:
- Gets Slightly Warm
- Lack of ports.
- Webcam is poor

Asus Zenbook 3 UX390UAK (UX390UA series) review – is this THE ultraportable of this generation?
The Zenbook 3 UX390UA is rather unique among ultraportables, as a sleek and ultra-compact laptop with Core U hardware, fast storage, lots of RAM and plenty of other solid traits.
Pros:
- slim, compact and light
- excellent build quality
- surprisingly good keyboard
- solid specs and overall good performance
- doesn't get as hot as I was expecting
- potent speakers
- solid performing wireless
- the battery life is decent, considering the actual size of the battery
Cons:
- the fan is active all the time
- the display is too dim for the premium niche and glossy, despite not being a touchscreen
- limited IO, but an adapter is included
- pricey

Asus ZenBook 3 review: A proper Apple MacBook substitute
