In the store I wasn't fully sold on a curved monitor, but I went with it against my mental protests. It didn't take long to get used to the curve. I'm now at the point where straight monitors look odd. I mostly use it for development (tons of room!), but gaming also looks great.
The screen is huge and so clear. I kinda want another one but it will probs be a while till I can get one XD.
UPDATED REVIEW: 2/11/16 I received my new ROG Swift on 1/29/16. The return and refund from BuyVPC was fast and easy, and in fact I purchased the replacement from them as well. This time everything worked as it should, no dead or stuck pixels, this monitor is amazing!
First unveiled last year and only just became commercially available, the ASUS ROG PG348Q gaming monitor has been highly anticipated for some time. And rightly so, because during my time with it, I am convinced that it is without a doubt the best 34-inch curved G-Sync monitor that money can buy.
Best in class display; Solid build; Excellent brightness and contrast setting out of the box; User-friendly OSD Menu
Premium price point; Monitor stand design will split opinion
ASUS waited quite some time to bring a 34" display to fruition. If that was due to some kind of initial issue, that's not shown as the ASUS ROG PG348Q passes with flying colors. This starts with the design which can no doubt be described as playful.
Chic look; good workmanship; Good OSD with numerous gaming features; High-contrast; good image quality; Uniform illumination; bright; Good color representation; Highly responsive; 100 Hz operation with G-Sync
Expensive; Slight backlight bleeding
Asus adds to its premium Republic of Gamers line with the curved ultra-wide PG348Q. It sports a color-accurate IPS panel at 34" diagonal, with 3440x1440 resolution, G-Sync, and a 100Hz refresh rate. We're checking it out today.
'Better' in this price class is a relative concept, especially if you are comparing monitors with the same panel, driven by the same scaler. You will not have to worry about quality anyway in this price class, though it is of course always possible to be unlucky.
We regularly tell you that you should spend more on your display than you do. So often it's the element of a system that people choose to cut corners on. Why bother having a pair of high-end GPUs in your system if you're outputting the picture to a £100 1080P monitor from a brand you've never heard...
OK, this is a little embarrassing. Last July I hailed, albeit with the usual journalistic qualifications, the Asus MG279Q as the Messiah of Monitors. Now I'm doing it again. And it's another ruddy Asus monitor. But there's nothing to be done. I cannot unsee what has been seen.
