Excellent Router

I very good well built router there are a few points that need to be addressed with this router first off do not upgrade the firmware the stock firmware out of the box is the best by far no issue with the 2.4G band with this version very easy to setup no issue at all if you are using Virgin...

Asus RT-AC56U

If you don't plan on putting your router through some hard work this will do just fine. If you tend to punish your routers with multiple users, P2P, and streaming. Look at a beefier model. Heavy traffic and the WIFI transmitter overheats the unit to the point where it freezes up.

Small footprint; Easy User Interface; Nice look

Cooling; Reliability

Router cannot consistently work well

This router will work fine for a while and then slow down to about 1/10th of its normal speed. Turning it off and on a number of times usually gets it working again, but it will eventually just slow down again.

Great router!

The router is great however it is not very user friendly. I had to spend a lot of time on the phone with someone from asus to figure it out.

Asus RT-AC56R

I bought this for a little over $100.00 and hooked it up in my home which is almost 3000 square feet (one story). It reaches ALMOST to the very ends of the residence. When you get into the farthest bedroom, you only have 1 bar, but that is better than MANY others I have tried.

Excellent cover range

Having a router that can do a bit of everything can mean the difference between business downtime and staying online, even when one of your connections fails. The AC56U from ASUS is one such router, thanks to support for a pretty extensive range of connection types.

Perfect

I upgraded from a wireless g router. This router has a strong signal that reaches to the sidewalk in front of my house. I like the way it looks with the concealed antennas. Easy setup.

Pros

I wanted to write a bad review initially because after a few weeks the connection started to drop. Only after a few days of investigation I noticed the the router was getting hot (over 80 degrees C).

Fast; reliable; easy to flash Tomato by Shibby on it

Gets hot
