Apple MacBook (2017) Review

The Apple MacBook ($1,299), once an entry-level polycarbonate laptop, has gone decidedly upmarket in recent years. A 2017 refresh brings Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors to the 12-inch ultraportable, but little else has changed from last year's version. That includes its price and single USB-C port, which means that even though the MacBook has some appealing features—including a high-quality Retina display, astonishing thinness, and silent fanless cooling—it still falls short in overall value for the dollar. You'd do well to consider competitors like the Microsoft Surface Laptop, the Asus ZenBook 3, or Apple's own 13-inch MacBook Pro, all of which offer more connectivity options or better computing power. Extremely Thin and Light Our review unit is Space Gray, an attractive finish that will make the aluminum notebook look at home in the classroom, board room, or pretty much anywhere in between. The color is uniform across the entire laptop, with the exception of th...

The ever-slim Apple MacBook gets a faster processor and remains a battery life champ, but a persistent dearth of connectivity ports makes it unappealing compared with the similarly priced MacBook Pro and Windows competitors.

Astonishingly thin and light; 15+-hour battery life; Retina display offers crisp text and bright colors

Connectivity is limited to a single USB port and a headphone jack; Components are not upgradeable after purchase

Amazing!

Love the price that I got from B&H on this MacBook. Its pretty fast for everyday tasks and is extremely thin. I love the fan-less design (it does get occasionally hot during demanding tasks). I also love the new keyboard on the 2017 model (its much moreclicky than previous versions).

This MacBook is awesome

This MacBook is the ideal size and weight for on the go computer use. At a little over 2 pounds carrying all day doesn't weigh you down or put strain on your shoulder. Good battery life and ability to charge with portable battery pack in a backpack.

12inch rose gold Mac

Always wanted this 12inch model, but was really disappointed in the description of the product that states it is gold but in fact it is not it's rose gold, completely different colour, the keyboard is nice to use, very responsive and the vivid colours stand out on the screen.

This is the best computer I have ever had. Before this I was using a MacBook Pro with an I7, it weighed much more, and I realized all I need is the MacBook 12", and the M3 processer is very fast and efficient for my needs. It is great for travel, which I do often.

Ultra Lightweight, Slim, and does everyday tasks well

It does everything I need it to do in a compact and lightweight package. I am a light task user - browser, netflix, music, chat apps, etc.

Ultra Lightweight - this is the lightest ultra i've owned and it is very easy to carry around

- 1 USB-C port - two USB ports would be better if they could keep the compact size and excellent battery life; however I guess one port is acceptable. I've only needed to use the USB port for data once in the last month

My new girlie MacBook is great

A great lightweight laptop. Even as a iPhone user I found some of the setup and options a bit frustrating and the noise when you do something wrong is very annoying! I'll definitely be buying a mouse to go with it but overall it does everything you'd need especially when you buy the ms office with...

More competent that you'd expect

Although this looks like a low performance processor compared to a Pro, I run professional development software on it and it's actually very very good. Under the right circumstances it will compete against a 2.5 i7 Pro on some tasks. It's not a toy, it is very light, compact and capable laptop.

Great on the go laptop!

I bought my MacBook nearly a month ago, online from Harvey Norman. It is exactly what I wanted and the online shopping experience was brilliant for such an expensive item!
