There aren’t any major surprises with the 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air, but after years of continual upgrades, that’s to be expected. They’re great computers with excellent performance, gorgeous screens and incredible battery life.

With a 15.3-inch display, the 'Big Air' in Apple's MacBook line-up has a simple sales pitch: it's a MacBook Air, embodying everything typically slim, light and portable about that, except it's got a bigger screen. And now it's got more power, too, thanks to the M3 chip inside for the 2024 release.

The MacBook Air M3 might not look like much of an upgrade over the M2, but for music production it makes a surprisingly powerful leap, and the extra screen real estate provided by the 15-inch model is essential. Light, thin, quiet and powerful. The boost we got for Logic was bigger than expected.

The M3 MacBook Air has arrived! In addition to the new SoC, there is a new anti-fingerprint coating and support for two external displays. How does the new MacBook perform in everyday use and can you really manage to run it for 18 hours without a power outlet?
Pros:
- Truly a beautiful and high-quality notebook, Fantastic performance level, Finally supports two external displays, Incredible battery life of up to 18 (!) hours, Uses a high proportion of recycled materials
Cons:
- Still equipped with only two USB-C ports, Display is outdated compared to the MacBook Pro, Power supply unit is very weak at 35 W, AI potential remains untapped

- You want a big screen experience at a price that’s reasonable It’s still an expensive MacBook, but you get a lot of screen real estate for considerably less cash than a 16-inch MacBook Pro would cost you.
Cons:
- You bought an M2 MacBook It’s a good spec bump here, but the real-world differences will be more keenly felt if you’re upgrading from an M1 machine or older — especially if you’re still on an Intel build.
