Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB (WD10JPVT)

While SSDs get all the plaudits for speed, the good old mechanical hard disk drive still can outdo its flashier cousins when it comes to offering huge capacities at a reasonable cost – which in turn means very low cost per gigabyte.

Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB (WD10JPVT)

Western Digital has had a 1TB (1,000GB) hard disk in its 2.5in (laptop-sized) Scorpio Blue range for a while now (that's the WD10TPVT), so you may be asking yourself what's so special about the WD10JPVT apart from the changing of a letter in the model name.

just stopped working out of the blue

i was skeptical purchasing this based on the not so great reviews i saw, but the pc store i got it from did not have many others. under a load when converting a cd the hdd stopped working. my old one was put in and boots fine.

1 TB size, easy install; worked fast and was satisfied when it worked

used the original HDD in my macbook pro for at least a few years for much longer than this WD HDD lasted me

Misleading name Not a Western Digital, Rather a generic 1tb hdd

WD might be misleading. This to my knowledge is not a western digital product. It comes with a generic white sticker that reads (white label sata 1tb) Works fine so far.

Excellent HDD upgrade for 60GB PS3

I bought this to upgrade my old school 60GB PS3. I first thought the upgrade would be a headache, but it turned out to be unbelievably simple. The drive works great, and now I have 1TB of room to download and copy games to. I strongly recommend this drive for those who wish to upgrade their PS3.

For older laptop - works great. Price is good too

Had to find my recovery disks to initialize hard drive but for an older laptop, this disk is perfect. Am very pleased now that I have it up and running. Patience is the keyword.

WD Scorpio Blue 1TB (WD10JPVT) Review

The hard drive market has turned volatile, ever since the floods wreaked havoc in Thailand. Factories of major hard drive brands were shut and operations were hit, resulting in a major hike in the prices of hard drives, around the world.

Purchased to redeem my old XBOX using an ATA-SATA adapter. Worked perfectly for the purpose so can not give anything other than 10/10. (All disks are incompatible with the old XBOX because they do not support either locking or xfat)

Excellent buy

I bought this hard disk. Excellent service from Flipkart. I received the package in 2 days. Installed Windows 7 and copied my backup to this disk at a sustained speed of 54 MBps. The hard disk is, no doubt, faster than an average 5400 rpm disk.
