Going on about 5 years with this drive now. It has served me well as an external backup disk. I use it everyday. Reliable.

I couldn't recommend buying one of these at this stage. I purchased mine on sale at around $60 after price matching and it came with a free $13 aluminum hard drive bracket. And this was at a time when SSDs were vastly more expensive than they currently are.

The 5 year warranty is pretty nice; If your experience should turn out to be anything like mine, you'll be making use of it; Seemed reasonably fast for being a 2.5 inch mechanical hard drive; Noticeably faster than the 5,400 RPM drive it had replaced.

It started dying approximately two years and one month from the day I purchased it; Currently up to 44 pending sectors and 456 read errors with more each week; Currently at 16,181 GB total reads, 12,837 GB total writes.

Purchased as a replacement drive for a Macbook Pro. Turned out that a cable had failed in the mac so using this as a drive in an external HD video recorder. Great drive, quiet operation which runs cool and fast enough to capture files. Great drive, good capacity and price.

Installed it in my 2009 MacBook Pro 13.3". Very fast, has little affect on battery life I find, which I was worried about (with it being 7200 RPM instead of the stock 5400 RPM Seagate that these MacBook Pros come with). Installation was easy, just find yourself an online tutorial.
