Tearaway Unfolded on PS4 really blurs the boundaries of our world and the virtual world with some modern platforming mechanics
Tearaway Unfolded is a charming, creative and just plain fun platforming game filled to the brim with customisation, creation and puzzle-solving. For returning fans, you'll enjoy discovering all the new and redone content that Media Molecule put the effort in to differentiate it from just being a...
+ New/completely remade content; + 1080p/60fps makes graphics even more gorgeous; + Huge amount of creation and customisation
- Touchpad too finicky for drawing; - Scraps battles get old quick; - No item to aid post-game collection
I actually missed out on Tearaway as I didn't have a Vita at the time it came out, so I was pleased to hear it was getting a PS4 version. Tearaway Unfolded has built the original from the ground up into a 1080p, 60fps outing with multiple ways to play.
If you played Tearaway , you already know it's easily one of the best games for the PlayStation Vita. While I won't ever deny LittleBigPlanet 's appeal and charm, I will probably always see it as a robust set of innovative creation tools that happen to come with a game that's as dull as it is...
We're always wary of a port. Often when a game migrates from one platform to another, it's a direct port and the title will lose some initial launch excitement that made it appealing. There's also a danger the porting process will introduce a fresh set of bugs.
Innovative gameplay features; Excellent story; Stunning papery world
Drawing can be a little tricky on the touchpad
Tearaway Unfolded is a platforming title the PS4 has been missing. It's a beautiful, happy and colourful adventure that really should be experienced and showcases the consoles ability to entertain all ages of gamers.
Platforming re-imagined; Full of life and vibrant designs; Creative and imaginative; The player interaction is magnificent; The DualShock 4 shines it's way through; Brilliant characters and gameplay
The last few chapters sadly are dragged out and are anti-climatic /br
After spending a weekend playing Tearaway Unfolded I'm starting to understand how acid heads feel after one of those life altering trips you hear about. I have to keep checking myself from grabbing the nearest person by the collar, shaking them, and yelling into their face, "You don't understand!
It's basically an entirely new game.
If you didn't know already, I don't think you'd tweak that Tearaway Unfolded started life on the PS Vita. As one of the handheld's premiere titles, Media Molecule made great use of in-built camera, touch screen and rear touchpad, yet now on PS4 it's as if it was meant to be here all along.
Just as it did on Vita, the genius behind Tearaway's design philosophy shines on PlayStation 4. Tearaway: Unfolded for the PS4 isn't a remaster or port, it's a game remade from the ground up for a new platform.
Clever and holistic use of the PlayStation 4's features; Heartfelt and thought-provoking themes of creativity and personal storytelling; Charming and endearing humor and tone; Budget title at $40
Some of the original game's features are relegated to a companion app; Still a relatively short game
