Synology throws down a glove in a convincing way. It may not have the newest router technology, but it's not a downside as the price of 180 dollars is very reasonable for all the kit you are getting. In terms of performance we can only say it is overall excellent.

This router won't current work with Sky fibre due to the inability to pass the username and password to the modem. This is being worked on however.

The 2.4GHz range blew away my need for a repeater down in my room where it has always been problematic to sustain enough signal for decent speed. My range extender is powered down and out down this end of the house. 5GHz range is adequate to decent.

Synology is best known for its NAS products, which we regard very highly. Now it has entered the router market, which, given its networking expertise, makes perfect sense. The RT1900ac is what we'd call solid if unspectacular.
