"Interesting idea"

but either poor execution or just the fact the technology is not up to it yet. Using the Kinect to grab different handles in close proximity to each other is problematic at best. I was able to get about 1h of smooth operation before everything started going haywire and in that time I found that it...

Steel Batallion: Heavy Armour review: A promising game, crippled by Kinect

Without Kinect this is an 8/10 game. With it, this is a maddening, brutal, clumsy mess that'll kick your ass and tie you in knots. It simply doesn't work.

The constant cockpit view is brilliantly immersive; Some neat ideas about motion control - hamstrung by dodgy tech

The controls simply don't work; Difficulty is unfairly brutal - and you can't fight back; You need Kinect; perfect posture; an office chair and a massive room

It has it's flaws but in the end, I enjoyed the game a lot. The game length isn't that long but you can replay missions after you beat it and change the fate for platoon members who may have died on your first play through on certain missions.

Only mech game I've played that really makes you feel like you are inside a mech or in this case, "Vertical Tank"; This is thanks to the whole Kinect features which you use when you are inside the VT.

Placement of some the interactive points with the VT are too close together; I found myself pressing the wrong button like switching on the lights when I wanted to pull the vent chain.

I also found it difficult at times because of the darkness of several scenes otherwise it's a good game and in my opinion would

The game suffers from very long intervals between start up and play also between each level,I also found it difficult at times because of the darkness of several scenes otherwise it's a good game and in my opinion would be a great game except for the problems I pointed out.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor (Xbox360)

I think there is a lot of fixation nowadays with getting your console to be motion sensitive – too much, in fact. I am a controller kind of gamer and that's the way I like it. I won't, however, cast dispersions on motion sensor consoles and add-ons such as the Kinect for the Xbox.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review

Heavy Armor is certainly an interesting experiment but one that never quite manages to convince. Most missions feel like trial and error rather than a test of your own skill, plus the Kinect wobbles that are thrown your way can have mission ending consequences that are far from satisfactory.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review (Xbox 360)

Such a great idea is lost on inconsistent design. Those able to overcome the technical challenges will only find a game that averages out to 'decent, but probably not worth its full retail price.
