This older design is a good value as a beginner's lens but not super-sharp

It's a good lens from the price, but not terribly sharp upon closer inspection. This is one of Sigma's older pre-Global Vision designs. However, it's a good starter telephoto zoom lens for a student or beginning photographer.

Great overall lens for the price. Came with a cover and a case. Due to the f-speed you must keep this lens very still to maintain a clear photo. A tripod would work best but a steady hand has sufficed this far. Great lens.

I would recommend this product

It is a good lens, there is no option Vibration Reduction on the lens but It is a problem that we can resolve with a tripod.

Durable; Strong Construction

Good lense

I'm a bit of a novice, got the D90,love the camera, dud. Lot of searching and came across this lense, tried it out today, from a novice point of view,it has done the job ell, used manual focus at first, then went auto.I'm very pleased with the results,,oh,and was a great price too,it feels substantial...

"Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro - a very versatile lens"

I bought this lens with a specific purpose in mind - photographing model aircraft in flight. I had previously used a Canon 80-200 mm which I found a bit too limiting at the long end of the range - an excellent lens, but not quite right for the job. The Sigma came with its own lenshood and case.

Good value for money; versatile

No image stabilisation

Got More Than I Paid For

It is not an L series lens that I cannot afford yet and it is not as powerful for birds as I had hoped. However,it is well constructed, it has very good glass, it takes pictures that I can be proud of over a decent focal range, it extends me past my Canon 28-135mm (which I adore), and with enough...

Great product.

I bought this for my first DSLR camera and following a brilliant bridge camera with a good focal range, I wanted to be able to have that same flexibility with a DSLR - this lens does as much - it actually goes beyond the focal range of my bridge camera.

I'd buy it again.

I love this lens, it works better than the lens that came with my camera. Sharp focus, and almost instantaneous response make it a true winner.

Sharp Focus Well Designe; Works Well With The Camer; Focuses Swiftly
