While all eyes are on the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy S9, the smartphone lineup of the South Korean manufacturer includes a plethora of other models that are at least worth a chance, especially because they seem to bring premium technology at a more affordable price.
I bought this a month and 1/2 ago and I'm so happy I did. For me it has so much more features than my previous cell and lots of storage so I don't have to worry. My only con for this phone is that the battery drains quickly but not so bad as my previous cell and I guess average/typical for most...
Up there with the big boys. Does everything. Great photos and videos too
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 for T-mobile is a light, sharp, 4G-enabled tablet with unfortunate Wi-Fi issues.
Affordable tablet with 4G, Small and light, Bright, sharp screen
Poor Wi-Fi connectivity, Tinny speakers, Sometimes sluggish performance
It's a more affordable Galaxy S9 alternative, but you'll find better value at the price.
Bold screen; Fast camera
Poor GPU for the price; Just okay low-light photos; Limited storage
Since its arrival in 2014, the A series has been one of Samsung's most important products alongside their S smartphones. The South Korean manufacturer has decided not to launch replacements for its Galaxy A5 or the A3 (2017) this year, although the A3 will remain in the catalog and is now cheaper.
Design; Excellent Super AMOLED display; Front camera; IP68 certification; Battery life
Performance doesn't match price; 32 GB of storage; No Android Oreo
It’s at the upper end of pricing for a mid-ranger, and that makes phones like the OnePlus 5T closer competitors than Samsung might like, but it still vastly undercuts most flagships while out-performing most mid-range phones.
+ Great Super AMOLED screen, + Dual-lens front camera, + Premium, water-resistant design
- Middling power, - Average battery, - Doesn't run latest software
With a dual front-facing camera and an edge-to-edge screen, Samsung’s Galaxy A8 sets its sights on the OnePlus 6
Bezel-less design, Pixel perfect display, Long-lasting battery life
Same price as the (better) OnePlus 6
The Galaxy A8 is still a good buy if you want an affordable phone with decent specs, and don't mind it being a little old. It's a sort of Galaxy S9 mini so will be attractive to those looking for a cheaper Samsung handset. There are some strong mid-range rivals though.
