Rise of Nightmares for Kinect is a game that sets a few milestones, both globally in terms of being the first M-rated Kinect game released and personally in terms of being my first real foray into Kinect gaming.

Hey grown-ups, at long last and long overdue comes a game designed specifically for the Kinect motion control system camera thing that's aimed right at you. You can tell because it carries an 18 certificate from the British Board of Film Classification despite it not being a film.

Parents need to know RISE OF NIGHTMARES is most definitely not for children. The game is very gory and bloody and lets you kill, decapitate, and dismember many zombie-like humans using melee weapons.

While doffs its cap to any developer brave enough to experiment with newfangled motion controls, it takes pendulous and unwavering self-belief for any coder to try and deliver survival horror thrills and chills using the Xbox 360 Kinect.

When it needs to it delivers a satisfying experience but at the next turn throws frustration in your face. I wouldn't mind but it's in unequal measures.
