While doffs its cap to any developer brave enough to experiment with newfangled motion controls, it takes pendulous and unwavering self-belief for any coder to try and deliver survival horror thrills and chills using the Xbox 360 Kinect.

to mark this year's Hallowe'en i treated myself to a festival of horror stories, movies and games, the eerie creeping, delicious jumps and gruesome oozes of many of which are still fresh in my psyche. alas, my task here is to tell tale of one of the more forgettable experiences of the season...

This game has been on my radar for a while. The first ‘serious' Kinect game (with swearing and everything!), I was intrigued to see how well horror and interaction worked. The potential was huge, and I couldn't wait to try it out.

Rise Of Nightmares is a survival-horror adventure in the style of the Resident Evil/ Silent Hill games, available on the Xbox360 and currently selling at a bargain price of £9 from Tesco.

First off cannot believe the bad reviews on Metacritic. I took a chance with this and can safely say I'm glad I did. Its now my favourite Kinect game. It lays down the blueprint for other games to build on in the future. Very good fun. Give it a go and star in your own horror movie.

Awesome game! the only reason i sent this back after a couple of days is i had only lent the kinect! this and Kinect sports have persuded me to get one for Crimbo!
