Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50

In a year when 20-megapixel compacts are becoming the norm, Panasonic made a bold decision to reduce the sensor resolution of its latest pocket superzoom, the Lumix DMC-ZS50 ($399.99).

Compact; 30x zoom lens; Integrated EVF; Raw shooting support; Excellent high-ISO images; 10fps burst shooting; Snappy autofocus; Lens control ring; Wi-Fi; Excellent 1080p60 video

External charger not included; Omits in-camera GPS; Pricey

All in all, the ZS50 is a fun alternative to using your phone. It's portable, packs a whopping 30x zoom, and the controls are balanced enough to be comfortable for new users and enthusiasts alike.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ70

Panasonic's just-released DMC-TZ70 is a relatively minor upgrade to its predecessor, the DMC-TZ60 . Although featuring the same Leica-branded, 30x zoom lens and having the same sized (6.17 x 4.55 mm) sensor, the resolution of the sensor has been reduced from 18 megapixels in the TZ60 to just 12...

Panasonic TZ70 review

The Panasonic TZ70 is a compact camera with a 30x optical zoom, making it the perfect complement to a zoom-less smartphone camera. The only trouble is that fitting a 30x zoom into a pocket-sized camera comes at the expense of image quality in low light.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50 Review

While its small sensor and aperture range limit the types of photos you can take, this camera's focus is clearly on the impressive zoom lens that enables you to shoot tight portraits. Features such as Wi-Fi and manual controls give it good versatility.

Its 30x zoom offers great versatility

This camera's protruding lens sometimes gets caught on the way in and out of pockets

mode button icons rubbed off after two uses

wanted a compact to add to my camera collection and heard some good things about this My main problem with this camera after having it only a month was that the icons on the mode dial rubbed off. It also has trouble focusing when the zoom is extended

Easy To Use; Small / Compact

Poor Image Quality

So very pleased.

I bought this camera for 2 reasons first for it's viewer so much better with this when in bright sunlight and second for the size of the zoom on such a nice weight of a compact camera.

Great Travel Camera

Took this camera on a two week trip to the Canadian Rockies. This camera produced really excellent photos of our trip. Couldn't be happier. Decided to take a pocket camera this time instead something hanging around my neck. This camera provides pocket convenience and big camera photo quality.

Amazing feature set

I've had this camera for a few months now and if I don't soon comment on my impressions they will be obsolete and irrelevant. So, here are my pluses and minuses: + If the mode dial is not in a detent, the camera warns you. + The wrist strap can be attached to either side of the camera.
