NZXT Phantom 820 Review

If you're big on case lighting-you Cylon fan, you-you're going to absolutely love NZXT 's latest Phantom chassis. It's rare to see such attention to detail paid to simple illumination, as with the three separate strands of lighting found on the exterior, interior, and rear of NZXT's Phantom 820 .

Gorgeous chassis with eye-catching; customizable lighting across three separate zones

Wiring and instructions a bit tricky to figure out; finicky fan controller

NZXT Phantom 820 Tower Computer Case

A great case can last an enthusiast many builds. This means that case designers need to create cases that can handle many different configurations, with many different requirements.

Great looking exterior; Can be used for any number of configurations from lowest to the most extreme configurations; The large fans used throughout the system help move monuments amounts of air while being quiet; Beautiful lighting system can be used in a enthusiasts system to really accent the...

Expensive; especially for a product that has a plastic exterior; Heavy; Extremely large; Flimsy drive sleds

NZXT Phantom 820 Full-Tower Chassis

Today I'll take a close look at a new Phantom case from NZXT. These guys are known for creating some bold, high-quality cases. They also provide a variety of other products that can be found here (insert link to NZXT product page).

Lots of room; Many options for ease of routing; Integrated fan controller and lighting system; Manufactured to accommodate any type of cooling setup; Sleek design; Many tool-less connections

Price puts it out of range of some enthusiasts; Would have liked to see another 8 pin ATX cable; Would have liked to see a fan included for the swivel point

NZXT Phantom 820 Full Tower Case Review

Whew! This is one big case. And despite all the accommodations made for air coolers (top-down air intake, for example), one gets the impression this case was really designed for water coolers. However, you can certainly put fans and radiators together in the Phantom 820 with room to spare.

Plenty of room to build a system with a wide variety of motherboards; Plenty of room for radiators or fans or both – your choice; Filters for two 200 mm top intake fans; Easy to work in; A built-in lighting system; A window through which to view your lit-up components; Comes with three 200 mm fans...

Part of the bottom filter set must be pulled out from the back; which means you must move this heavy case to remove and clean that filter

NZXT Phantom 820

NZXT chassis seem to get better with each revision, but the company has a habit of leaving room for a couple of small improvements. The Phantom 820 is a continuation of that trend; it's arguably NZXT's most impressive full-tower solution to date, yet there are a few elements that could be enhanced.

NZXT Phantom 820 Case Video Review

The NZXT Phantom 820 Case is a true full tower case in that it is massive. It's also loaded with excellent features. The case looks stylish, comes stock with 3 200mm fans and a 140mm, but more can be installed.

NZXT Phantom 820 review

The all new Phantom 820 is a smack-down home run in terms of design and cooling. I truly adore this chassis as from A to Z this simply is a very well thought through chassis with all the features and space you'll need for a long time -- and that's next to all the new features and bling.

NZXT Phantom 820 Case Review

In conclusion, I would say that NZXT has a winner here. It's extremely roomy, lots of space behind the motherboard , lots of accessories, adequate cooling with the choice of adding more fans on a whim, and looks damned aggressive. My only issue is the size.
